It all suddenly became very clear to him. Like there was a beacon of light in his hour of darkness. Muddy rubbed his head against Amaya's, it was a gesture of love. "You're right... We can find a way... You are worth the pain, Amaya." he licked the side of her cheek, wanting to soothe her troubles away just as she had with him.
"For you Amaya, I promise not to leave..." Mud said quietly. Ire whispered to him in the same tone from the inside of his head, 'Don't make promises you can't keep, Muddy my boy. I'll be back...'
The large hound cleared his throat, "Your mother... Could you possibly, if it's alright with you, tell me about her...." it was a simple request, he was curious and wanted to know. It would also be a way for him to shift the attention away from his problem for the time being.

Amaya felt the warmth of Mud's head on her. Then his words began to comfort her. She smiled abit, was he gently replied to her. This made her feel happy. She felt him lick her cheek, in an attempt to soothe her. It worked.
"I will never leave your side Mud..." She nuzzled him, "As long as you live." She licked his cheek back. Returning his affection, nothing could keep them apart...right?
His statement, about her mother. She smiled and moved toward his side. And gently leaned on him. "My mother... My mother, she was everything to me. As a pup, I was the runt of the litter. So life was tough. And you know what they say, survival of the fittest. And I wasn’t the fittest…” She paused, recalling memories of her past. Then she continued.
“…But my mother always kept things under control, and had always told us stories. She was sweet, kind, had brown eyes like mine, help others, and always told us to be grateful for everything we had. And she always told us about the great Gin, Weed, and other Ohu fighters. If you could meet her, you could see we were both the same.” She smiled, “She always told us that there was an inner strength in everyone that could overcome anything. And I believed, and she also told us a thing about love at first sight.”

Mud felt Amaya begin to relax her terse body. He smiled to himself, feeling accomplished. He had finally done something right for a change. To be able to be there for someone he cared for and to have such affection returned, it was an inverted spiral that ascends into a higher plane of elation rather than descending down to the oblivion of despair. And it was all thanks to Amaya. He listened carefully to all her words. It was an inspiration to hear about her disadvantaged childhood and yet see such a brave and sweet dog before himself. How a dog can come back from such chilling events and exist benevolently was beyond his comprehension. It was her last statement that seemed to stick in his mind. “She always told us that there was an inner strength in everyone that could overcome anything. And I believed, and she also told us a thing about love at first sight.” Multi colored orbs went wide. Inner strength? Thats me Muddy, its all me... Ire can do things that you could never bring that weak demeanor of yours to do. his scalding remark seemed to challeneg Amaya's lingering words. "Thank you Amaya... I believe I should tell you my story..." He cleared his throat and began; "I was a pet dog at first, to a small family. There was a father and mother human and their smaller pup, a little girl named Akiko. She was very nice, always petting me and talking to me. Dressing me up in these frilly things(dresses) and we had a ritual called a 'tea party'..." he chuckled to himself, thinking of all their frolicking good times. "And then, just like that it all ended. The father had to sell me to a junk yard to be a guard dog. Poor Akiko, she cried so much when I left. I struggled against the leash and whined, but there was nothing I could do. I felt so useless as I watched our beautiful world crashing down all over. I was put into the ring to fight, it was against my will, I never wanted to hurt another... One night, I was beaten to the brink of my life. I had never experienced such pain before. Suddenly everything went black, I don't remember what had happened." his eyes filled with emotion as he neared the most painful part of this recollection. "I was running down the street then, and... Everyone was dead... Akiko, the other dog... and in some ways- myself... Ire was created then, from the ashes of my life he rose as a dominant force. A darkness that I will never be rid of..." He could no longer hold back all of his welling up emotion, his blue and orange eyes filled with tears and he sobbed onto Amaya's shoulder.

Amaya listened to Mud's words. She watched him smile, and then tell his story after he gave her a thank you. His story, was good at first. He was owned by humans, a mother and father, and their offspring, a little girl named Akiko. And she treated him with kindness and respect. And dressed him in frilly things and had a ritual called a 'tea party'.
Then a chuckled emitted from him. But things had turned for the worse. His owner had sold him...And the tears of the young girl. Then from a pet, to guard dog, to fighting dog. And her friend was beaten tothe brink of his life. The pain he felt. She could never understand his pain. She tried to imagine everything he went through. The young pup, the other dog. Then his words struck her.
'Ire was created then, from the ashes of my life he rose as a dominant force. A darkness that Iwillnever be rid of..'
Then he began to sob on her shoulder. Amaya felt sadness for him. She nuzzled and licked his muzzle and cheek. "Mud...I am sorry for what you have been through. But I know you have suffered pain beyond what I have encountered..." She stopped, and nuzzled him once more. "But I think I know why Ire is here...What you have been through, the pain and the suffering. Seeing the one you loved and cared about dead, fighting others for entertainment...That might have triggered Ire.The anger from the death of Akiko caused Ire to dominate your personality. I am so sorry Mud.." She liked his cheek and scooted closer toward him. Her tail overlapped his, and she nuzzled him more. Trying to comfort him.

Tremors tore though his very being as he shook from despair. Mud let the tears roll from the sides of his face. He went very quiet then, realizing that he was crying on Amaya. "I-I'm sorry.... I realize that I should be a stronger male dog.."
Ire chuckled, That's right Mud! Good of you to admit the truth!?
It was nice to have another's prescense before him, it soothed him to know that there was someone that cared for him.

Amaya felt the tears come to an end. Silence began to roll upon them, only thing there was to hear was birds chirping and squirrels chattering. "I-I'm sorry.... I realize that I should be a stronger male dog.." His words seemed to touch her. He didn't have to be stronger, he was great the way her was...well except for the Ire personality, that needed to be worked on. "Mud, you don't have to be stronger, if you want you can. But I like you the way you are. You're sweet, kind, strong, and handsome." She smiled and nuzzled him.
