The dane mix smirked widely, amused by the cute little kai dog. So helpless, able to do nothing but offer a few words in an attempt at defiance. But they were no more harmful than butterflies on the wind.
Though his gaze remained on the kai ken, a shuffling behind him alerted Kira to the shepherd's quick reaction time. She apparently was about as tough as she looked. Briskly, she rolled to her feet in the sand before charging the mix again, as if to repeat the maneuver from before. But, as any clever dog would be, the dane mix was ready for her this time. Effortlessly, without even looking, he took a swift step sideways, stepping right out of the path of her charge and missing her fangs by mere inches.
For a brief moment, it seemed as though Sharp had left herself open and vulnerable to attack. Fortunately, Kira was not the only clever dog here. As she darted by, one of the shepherd's hind paws kicked up a thick cloud of sand, a cloud aimed right for the dane's obviously damaged gaze. Caught off guard, Kira stumbled and cried out, shaking his head and growling in either pain or irritation. It was difficult to tall which. Fortunately, this meant that he was no longer defending himself and, upon turning about a few lengths away, Sharp returned his earlier headbutt with one of her own, t-boning him right in the ribs and sending him tumbling up the sand.
Trying to appear unphased, she shook her head mindlessly, clearing her ears of sand the wind placed within them before using her tongue to lap at some of the blood that had drizzled onto her muzzle from a new laceration in her forehead. Casually, she kept her gaze trained on the body in the sand a few lengths away but, after he failed to return to his feet, the shepherd turned away, strolling back toward the kai dog now and taking up a position beside her.
"Do you need help standing?"

The red kai realized quickly that no matter what she said, it wasn't doing anything. Words meant little, except being a distraction. That was just what she intended. Leiko watched as Sharp's first attack missed, but the Kai Dog didn't have much doubt in the female. She looked strong and healthy. She had proved strong so far. Sharp kicked sand up, blinding Kira momentarily. In her mind, Leiko was cheering silently for Sharp's victory.
It came pretty quickly, after Kira's sight was temporarily sealed. Sharp had quickly come back at him in he ribs. Leiko winced as Kira was thrown the the sand, and jerked her head back as he thudded into the sand. That had to be painful... Sharp padded up beside Leiko. She was a very large dog.. And her gaze seemed softened after the battle. It seemed as if she was hardly shaken by the combat. Leiko couldn't help but be amazed.
"Do you need help standing?" Sharp asked. Immedietly, Leiko looked down at the sand. She was embaressed to say yes, especially in front of such a strong dog. It was rare she felt embaressed. She was sort of humiliated as well. She could barely fend for herself out here, against that dog. Slowly, Leiko nodded. "I'd appreciate it." She sighed.
"You saved my life, Sharp... Nobody has ever done anything like that. I thought nobody cared for me..." Leiko mumbled, twitching her torn ear. She looked over at Kira's fallen body. "so... is he... gone?" Leiko asked quietly afterwords.

Agreeing silently, the shepherd mix nodded once before taking a few steps closer to the kai ken. Rather than immediately helping her to her feet, there was a moment or two of curious sniffing, almost as if surveying the damage done to the smaller canine. Why Sharp would do such a thing was up to interpretation. Someone who did not know her might've thought that she was simply looking for broken bones and other severe wounds that would be painful if prodded, a useful tidbit of information before moving someone who was hurt. Someone who did know her, however, would probably burst out laughing at that mere thought. As the kai ken would soon find out, her savior was not nearly so compassionate an individual.
Perking her ears when her survey was interrupted by a question, Sharp raised her broad head slowly, now looking down at the tiger-striped dog. Casually she shrugged her saddled shoulders.
"I highly doubt it. A few broken ribs is not enough to kill anyone, especially not someone-"
Before the mix could finish her sentence, just as she turned her head to look over at the body herself, she found herself not gazing at the still form of the dane but instead face to face with his gaping jaws which immediately took hold of much of her face and muzzle. Considering the size of her mastiff-like muzzle, this was highly surprising for Sharp, but she had little time to ponder it. Kira's powerful charge sent the two of the tumbling down the sandy beach, a cloud of sand and fur and dog moving too quickly to properly identify.
However, after maybe ten yards or so, the sand and dust settled and the two of them found themselves separated somehow, now glaring daggers at each other from a length or so of distance apart. Though the shepherd seemed to have gotten the worst of things, a massive bloody line of puncture wounds indicating where on her forehead and face the dane's teeth had landed, Kira was the only one out of breath, his legs shaking slightly beneath him. Whether it was in exhaustion or sheer fury was a question to be raised. All in all, Sharp was something akin to amused and, grinning, casually lapping at the blood on her face with her tongue.
"I didn't think you were dead."

ooc// Ahh good... roleplay... Just what I need for a stressed mind. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) Leiko almost scooted back in retreat as Sharp neared her. Her fear of being hurt again by a wolf who seemed nice still haunted her. But, she had to convince herself that this dog- Sharp was her name?- was helpig her. The dog sniffed at the kai dog's body. That was very... considerate Leiko was thinking, and gave a kind smile. sharp then began a reply to her question. "I highly doubt it. A few broken ribs is not enough to kill anyone, especially not someone-" Sharp wa scut off, and Leiko hadn't realized it, but Kira had jumped up and snatched her muzzle. Leiko stared for a moment, unsure of what just happened. Sandi was flying everywhere, so the young fae pinched eyes shut to block it from her eyes. Yards away, and what seemed like hours later, the sand landed and settled on the beach. The two stared eachother down, both looking prepared to keep fighting despite their conditions. She saw Sharp's mouth moving, but didn't catch the words. She clenched her teeth.
"Dammit! Me and my stupid time consuming questions!" Leiko snapped at herself, and struggled to rise to her feet. She was very unsteady.

Kira, though still panting, grinned suddenly and laughed a little, lightly. He didn't say anything at first, momentarily distracted when the kai ken moved on the fringes of his peripheral vision. His wild eye exaggerated her moments a bit, her red fur blurred and unclear in his overall red-tinged line of sight, but her black stripes were like dark beacons in a bright room and he couldn't help but look at them for a split second.
A split second Sharp immediately jumped on. Without really consciously making the decision, she charged the large brute but she was not fast enough to reach him before he'd realized what she was doing. Amused, he grinned, still staring at the kai ken even though the shepherd was what filled his attention.
"No, I am not... But you will be very soon."
As if to punctuate his sentence, Kira stepped back quickly, dodging the shepherd's bone crushing jaws by mere inches before following it up with a snap of his own. Fortunately, a battle between big dogs means that everybody is fairly sluggish and Sharp was just barely fast enough to avoid being bitten, walking away with just a few hairs missing on the top of her tail.
The dane was growing annoyed at this point. Though he didn't let it show on his face, he was not happy with this cocky shepherd or her taunts or her blatant stubborn defiance. Deepening his smirking grin in a further attempt to hide his annoyance, Kira didn't really wait for his opponent to turn around and instead charged her while her back was turned. Though she heard him and attempted to dart away quickly, her reaction time was too late and too slow and Kira finally managed to get a good hold of her, grabbing her by the shoulder and throwing her down to the ground quickly.
Surprised, Sharp grunted at the impact, but did not panic or pitch a fit. Instead, she attempted to kick at the dane mix's face with her hind paws, aiming for that obviously sensitive eye of his. But her foot fell short and she could only claw pathetically at his shoulder instead, which didn't seem to do anything to remedy the situation.

"No, I am not... But you will be very soon." Leiko caught Kira saying. She pressed her face into the sand, with her eyes closed. She covered he ears ith her paws, just wishing it would all go away. She could still feel the ground vibrate, the light sand being blown into her fur. When would the fighting end. Normally she was up for a fight, but this... this was too much for even her. She was seriously injured physically and mentally, and just needed to get out of there. She lifted her head again, her paws sliding away from her ears. Slowly she opened her eyes to a squint.
Kira had his jaws locked on the female. She attempted to kick him, maybe in the face, only to miss, and slice his shoulder. Leiko struggled to stand once more, ad turned away from Kira, but looked back. She had to stop this somehow. Her best chance was to distract him. Damn, I must be crazy... Leiko was thinking to herself.
But, who could resist? "Hey big boy, look over here." Leiko trilled flirtatiously, wagging her tail high, and shaking her rump. She dropped lower with the front of her body. "Come on, lover. Come and get it... You know you want to. Leave that girl alone and come play with me." Leiko offered, smirking. well, it was worth a try. It would give Sharp an opportunity to attack. [/blockquote][/blockquote] ooc// I hope my muse gets better soon. I think we should try wrapping this up though(which is something I normally don't ask...). I can't think of a lot more, since Leiko seems to just be watching since she's injured.

((Yeah, I know. I've been trying for like the passed ten posts. XD I just realized that my original plan, to have Sharp throw Kira off a cliff into the water, wasn't going to work since, at the beginning of the thread, we described them being right on the water's edge with no cliffs handy. That's why I had them tussle their way away from Leiko, so I could claim that their new position is on top of a hill or something. Sharp might have to chase Kira a short ways further off to make it more believable but I think it'll work... It's just so hard to end a fight between two stubborn characters without severely wounding or killing one of them or making one of them cowardly and have them run off. ><))
Now Kira was no fool, not by any stretch of the imagination. He was usually very thorough and precise with his every action and activity, exploring all options and gaining the upper hand, as he had with the mastiff mutt he now had pinned beneath his jaws and was slowly crushing the shoulder of. But he was, by every stretch of the imagination, a male with a certain lust for those of the opposite gender. So when the kai dog raised her rear like a flag, that desire-driven part of him could not resist.
Briefly he stole a glance at her, tempted but unwilling. He'd take care of the shepherd first. Fortunately, she seemed to succumb to his crushing jaws and, at that moment, appeared to black out, her struggling ceasing and her body falling limp. Thankfully. Smiling broadly, the dane released her and turned to the kai dog, licking the blood from his maw slowly as he went, his eyes alight with that lusftul hunger once again.
But before he could get far, there was a stirring behind him. Sharp, the clever mutt, had been playing dead in correspondence to Leiko's ploy and, suddenly, she leapt to life again, grabbing the larger Kira by his hind leg and spinning him once above her head to gain momentum before forcefully throwing him even further up the beach.
Needless to say, this was a bit of a surprise for the dane, who, wide-eyed, flew a good thirty feet or so before landing heavily in the sand. His body bounced once, soaring another few yards before disappearing on the horizon: over the edge of a distant cliff. There was some silence on the wind, the shepherd standing ready for a counter assault, but the only thing she received in return for her mighty toss was the sound of a distant splash... and then more silence. Hastily she turned and trotted back toward the kai dog, attempting to pick up speed as she neared, only to falter on her injured shoulder and slow once again to the female's side.
"Nice timing with that distraction. Now, let's hurry up and get out of here before he comes back."
Without offering much objection, the shepherd lowered herself into a tense crouch, her ears turned backward in a weary listen for the great dane's return.
"Get on."
((Yay! I did it. X3))

ooc// lol
Leiko wasn't surprised that Kira was attracted to her flirty self. Feign flirting was easy for her. Though, Kira went back to Sharp. He wanted to get rid of her first, and.... thta wasn't what she had planned. She dropped back to the ground because of the gash over her shoulder. With that, she couldn't support Kira again. Suddenly, Sharp went limp, and Kira dropped her and began to make his way towards her. Not now, Sharp... Don't die on me now. The kai dog pleaded in her mind, but time seemed to freeze when she saw Sharp's eyes open. Sharp dashed in for a surprise attack, grabbing Kira's hind leg.
Leiko watched in disbelief as Kira's white body flew across the beach and out of sight. Was that even dogly possible? Sharp quickly padded over to her. Sharp was obviously in pain right now. "Nice timing with that distraction. Now, let's hurry up and get out of here before he comes back." Before Leiko could reply, Sharp crouched and asked the Kai dog to get on her back. This was going to be some ride... Quickly, Leiko stood and heaved herself onto Sharp's back. "Damn males and their testoserones. All they are are big pigs." LLeiko grunted. "I swear I thought I lost you for a second there. I couldn't go through what he did to me all over again..."

"I wouldn't say that... some males are quite small."
Sharp kept her gaze trained ahead, almost stubbornly despite her humorous comment, as if distracted by something in front of her. When in truth, she was simply focusing on listening behind her, both ears pulled back and tensed to the point of stiffness, despite their floppy nature. The moment the kai ken was comfortably situated, the shepherd mix stood slowly, carefully, testing her shoulder. When she found it was capable of bearing the female's weight, she hastily took off at a strenuous lope, just below a running pace.
She didn't really know where she was going or what exactly she intended to do once she got there, but all of those details were unimportant. All that mattered was that they got off of this beach and hid themselves someplace Kira or any accomplices he may have would never find them. Just in case the dane had survived the fall.
Had the shepherd had time to think about it, she probably would've realized how unlikely that seemed. She'd thrown him pretty hard and pretty far, courtesy of her powerful mastiff-like form and figure. There's no telling how far down that cliff went or what lay at the bottom, from spiked rocks to sharks to poisonous jellyfish. The list of things that would keep the evil Kira out of their hair was staggering. But it's always better to be safe than to be sorry.
Rounding a bend in the beach, the shepherd turned chauffeur made a b-line for the forest tree line further up the sand.
"In all honesty, I'd thought I was too. Never been much of an actor, figured he'd see through the trick and just kill me..."
Panting now, she slowed once the shadows of the treeline engulfed them, allowing her to relax a bit. Even if Kira did arise for the grave now, at least they'd be out of sight.
"... He was one crazy brute... What'd you do to piss him off so much?"

Leiko laughed a little at her joke. It was long before they took off, zig zagging all over. The kai dog was continually bouncing up and down, almost struggling to stay on top of the large female. She stopped again a while later, in a faraway, and very different place on the beach.
"In all honesty, I'd thought I was too. Never been much of an actor, figured he'd see through the trick and just kill me..." Sharp admitted. Leiko shrugged. "Well, it looked real enough to me. Kira may be a brute, but he doesn't have the brains." Leiko muttered. "all brawn, no brains. I pick somewhere closer to brains. I'm not really that strong. Kira made me feel like a peice of string."
"... He was one crazy brute... What'd you do to piss him off so much?" Sharp asked. Now that Leiko thought about it, she wasn't really sure... It'd happened so quickly, except in the midst of it happening it felt like hours.
"Well, I'm... not sure... See I was on the beach, relaxing in peace. kira came along and interrupted me.. For a while it seemed like innocent chat, but when I turned my back..." Leiko winced and paused. She forced herself to hold back tears. She knew the scent of her body overall could tell Sharp what had happened. "I don't want to ever see him again... I don't care if he or anyone else sees me as a coward! He scares the hell out of me!"

Sharp looked over her shoulder slightly when the kai ken paused in her explanation of the situation, having nodded in response to the first part of their conversation but saying nothing. For a second she'd thought the female had fainted or something... or worse, her injuries would have warranted it. But a glance out of the corner of her eye told the shepherd that was not the case and the response she was looking for came soon enough.
Turning her gaze back to the path ahead, Sharp continued forward into the shade of the tree-filled forest; a fairly temperate area a little warm like one would expect a forest near the beach to but not too much so, thanks to the shade.
"I see... So, he just ambushed you then."
Keeping her pace slower now for the sake of the kai's comfort (and secretly for her own, thanks to the bite on her shoulder) the shepherd stuck to the dirt trail that wound its way into the woodlands. On the wind, the scent of humans made her a little weary but she ignored it. It was too far off to be of concern.
"Sounds to me like he's smarter than you give him credit for. A dumb brute would've just taken you at a glance and not bothered with the conversation."

"I see... So, he just ambushed you then." Sharp questioned. Leiko stayed quiet, and buried her nose into Sharp's fur. "Yes...." A muffled mumble came quietly. Leiko was embaressed that he had caught her by surprise. It made her feel stupid, utterly stupid. She noticed now that Sharp's pace had slowed, to an easier motion. Leiko noted the Shepherd's comment and thought on it for a moment. "I guess you're probably right... I just hope he's dead..." Leiko muttered, lifting her head from the tan fur. "So, where are we going, anyways?"

Rounding a bend in the dirt forest path, the shepherd mix gave a quick glance around, crimson gaze examining the shadows, as if expecting something to leap from them, but with enough confidence to continue her trek regardless. She'd already taken down Kira, so any forest dwelling peon would have one hell of a fight on their hands.
"I don't know. Some place far away from here."
Though Sharp would never openly admit it, she hadn't really thought that far ahead. Save the day... and then what?
"Off the island. This is not a place I like to revisit and would be the first place any allies of Kira's would come looking for his killers. The farther we are from his body, the safer we should be."
Trailing off in her thought, she took a moment to carefully trot across a small stream bed, hopping daintily from rock to rock on her massive mastiff paws. Reaching the other side, she continued on, her pace now increased having found a way to trot without putting too much weight on her injured shoulder.
"Can you swim?"

Leiko sighed, sliding off of Sharp's back. She knew the Shepherd mix was in pain. She didn't want to put her in any more pain. She ddn't want to hold her back. Although she was right... The farther they were from Kira's body, whether he was dead or alive, they would be safer. They had to get off the island... She had to try, at least. Despite eing very weak, she had no other options. "Well, I got on the island, didn't I?" Leiko laughed, standing up slowly. "I guess it wouldn't hurt to try swimming." She said. She could only hope the current of the sea was on hr side today.

Sharp skidded to a quick stop when Leiko decided to vacate her premises, a move that was made too hastily and made her cringe visibly for a moment. But she quickly caught herself, and that little bit of emotion she let slip through, and quickly returned to her generally expressionless facade. Watching the kai dog stand meekly, the larger mixed breed had little faith in her word and shook her head skeptically.
"That was before you had a run in with that very nasty dane."
Once the injured fae seemed sure-footed enough, Sharp continued down the forest path, knowing the island's awkward shape meant they'd be coming up on another shore soon.
"Are you sure you want to try it? It's not a short swim..."
