Monty hopped out of the water with the fish in his mouth, shaking it quickly, snapping its neck. With a happy growl he plopped onto the sand and began to hungrily eat. He looked up at her and wagged his tail happily.
"Sure. I'd be glad to teach you how. Its not hard. It just requires patience!" He laughed a bit before finishing the rest of his fish.
[sorry for the bad post]

She quickly ate her fish, enjoying every bite of it, even the bones. Kris licked her muzzle when the fish was gone and wagged her curled tail slightly. She was in a better mood now that she had eaten. Her ears perked when Monty said that he could teach her; "Really? Thank you, that means a lot." she barked happily. "Hopefully I'll have the patience for it." It was true that the female lacked patience, but maybe with enough hard work, she'd be able to master the art of catching fish. Then Kris would have another food source available to her. [Sorry for the wait, and sorry this is such a bad post >.<]

Wagging his long thin tail, he pushed the fish bones aside before looking to the water. "First of all, you must focus and clear your mind..." He took a deep breath and closed his eyes.
"Next...you need to ease your way into the water and wait for the fishes to relax again..." With his eyes still closed, he padded slowly and tenderly into the water, pausing and standing completely still.
"Then you will need complete silence as you look for your fish..." He slowly opened his eyes and looked in the water, watching and waiting before picking a fish.
"Finally, you prepare to lunge...realize that water refracts and the fish is not exactly where you see it..." With one smooth and fluid motion, he thrust his head into the water, snapping his strong jaws around his prey and popped his head out of the water.
"Tada...! Now, your turn..."

Her ears perked as the male began his instruction, her one eye focused on him. She watched as Montgomery walked into the water as listened as he spoke, taking everything in. Despite the fact that she was sleep deprived, Kris could learn things very quickly, especially if someone showed her how. Nodding as he spoke, she took everything in, understanding what she had done wrong when she tried to catch fish.
Yet, she was still amazed when he thrust his head into the water and came up with a fish. "Wow, that was so great," she barked, wagging her tail slightly. Though she was taken back when he said that it was now her turn; "Umm, okay. I'll give it a try." The GSD x shikoku ken cross slowly padded to the water's edge and walked into the cool water. She took a deep breath, then began to watch the water; at first no fish came, then after awhile, some began to show up. Okay, now I need to find one... Then... her golden eye focused on a fish. Her eye watched as it swam, slowly getting nearer to herself. And then... She plunged into the water.
Her fangs gripped fish and she pulled her head out of the water. Fangs dug into the fish, stopping its trashing; "I did it!" she said through the fish, her eye shining. Kris splashed out of the water, her tail wagging and plopped the fish in front of Monty. "Thank you so much, you are a great teacher."

The coon hound grinned widely at her triumph. He wagged that long tail and barked happily at her. "Good job! I knew you could do it!" As he padded over to her, he picked up the fish she caught and dropped it in front of her. "Eat it. It tastes better when you catch it yourself." He grinned a bit as he turned to the fish he had just caught and pounced on it. Those unusually sharp fangs tore into the fish, devouring it quickly. With a loud yawn he laid himself down in the warm sand and looked to her, still wagging his tail.

"Good job! I knew you could do it!"
Kris smiled at the male's words, it was nice to here them, well, any words of kindness. It had been to long since she was in the company of someone who complimented her and made her feel... Good. That was it, she felt good for the first time in months, oh how great that felt.
The female was surprised when Montgomery dropped the fish in front of her, she looked at him with a question in her eye, then as he spoke, she understood. "I understand the reasoning behind that," she said with a smile and began to tear into her fish, enjoying its salty taste. Finishing the fish, she closed her eye and gave a contented sigh, finally her belly was satisfied and her mind began to lose its fog. Its still wasn't at its sharpest due to the lack of sleep, but there was nothing she could do about that.
With another sigh, Kris opened her eye and looked over toward Monty and smiled; "Thank you again for teaching me to fish, it means a lot." She gave a stretch, then walked over and sat next to the male, feeling at ease for once. Her golden eye gazed out at the ocean, How far I've come... she thought, closing her eye and thinking back on her life.

He let out a long drawn out yawn as he rested his big head on his paws, staring out over the ocean. "You are certainly welcome..." He was at a loss for words at those sullen eyes gazed at the horizon, marveling at the sunset. His tail wagging slowed down, but never stopped as he panted happily at the relaxing feel of the environment...
::Is this paradise...?::

"You are certainly welcome..."
She smiled at the male's words, feeling at ease with his presence, which was something she never would of suspected. Being on the run for most of her life had made her trust no one other then her brother. But now he was gone, and Kris was alone. She never thought she would ever feel at ease ever again after his death. All those lone, sleepless nights of always being on edge, never being able to relax for an attack might come from her old pack.
She shook her head slightly, clearing her head to depressing thoughts, those thoughts had no place right now. Her eye shifted from the ocean waves to steal a quick glance at Montgomery; "You know, I've never watch the waves before, or the sunset," she said softly. Her eye returned to the beautiful scene before them as she continued to speak. "I've always been on the run, but its nice to just sit and watch the beauty of everything..."

Those sad eyes never left the ocean as he sat and listened to her. "It is good to sit and rest some time..." He thought for a moment before looking to her. "Listen, I warned you of the Dark Faith pack. I know I told you to stay away from it for I cannot promise you safe passage. But...If you ever need help, or food, or whatever you might need...come to the edge of our territory and howl five times with a 10 second interval between each howl. I will come running to assist you..." He offered her a warm doggy smile.

"It is good to sit and rest some time..."
She smiled at that, how good it was to just rest and not have to worry about being attacked. But Kris couldn't let her guard down, not even now; they could come and attack her. Them that ruined her whole life. She stifled a growl at the thought of them and their ways. The pack, her pack, that killed her mother, cased her and her brother and eventually killed her brother were to blame for everything. A pack could never be trusted, not ever...

Kris was silent for awhile as she took it all in; what Monty had said was... Was just unbelievable. How could he promise her this? And could she even trust him? After the long silence, she stood was walked to the edge of the ocean, looking out at the water. Montgomery, this is so much to offer... she finally said softly, turning her head slightly, so her blind side faced him. "You know I lost my eye to a member of a pack, my pack... I can't trust packs or pack members..." she paused, then turned and faced him, "But I do trust you." she smiled and bowed her head slightly, "Thank you, your offer means so much."

He didn't look away from the ocean. His warm expression was replaced with a serious one as he nodded. "You are welcome, Kris. Just be leery of our pack. These dogs don't play. They are cold and serious killers. They won't kill you on sight if you wander in, but just be careful if you are anywhere near there." He stood up and looked at her. "But, if you ever find yourself trapped in our lands, you'll have my protection. They won't harm you if this old dog can do anything about it." He grinned a bit and sat on his haunches. His mind began to wander...
