As the scenery changed, not once did the pup think that he was straying too far. A search for food and water lead him far from the "boundaries". Distraction from scents and noises were something more to think of than his own well-being. Being born a domestic dog could be a good excuse, but in no way could it help him. By the time Bax finally stopped and actually took a moment to look around, his state of mind changed from happy-go-lucky, to scared and paranoid. He didn't seem to be in the desert anymore. There were trees, bushes and ferns. The ground was moist, but hard.
Bax lowered his head to take a few whiffs of the ground. It smelt dull, something similar to cold air. Permafrost, and as he looked up, he found pure driven snow in a gallop's reach. As a shorthaired breed like himself, this was a bad sign. Sleeping in snow would injure him, or maybe kill him if he stayed in it too long.
Whining weakly, he turned around, looking behind himself. He could see the rusty dirt of the desert in what could be an eagle's eye view. As the sun rose, it made a beautiful scene of reds, pinks, and oranges. In this situation, a pup couldn't think of something so peaceful. He needed to get back to Tin, his traveling companion, and make sure he was alright. With that odd disease of paranoia he had, he needed a friend to stay nearby so nothing bad would happen to him.
As Bax knew, he was in the Southern Alps, a landmark famous to many dogs. A long time ago, a tyrant known as Hougen and his brother Genba took over these lands. Until the legendary Weed destroyed him, he had brought terror and organized anarchy to the many locations around. The other dogs said that the area was possessed by the ghosts of the warriors that fought there, though Tin didn't seem to have that kind of mind. Tin set out to reach the Alps, since the prey would be numerous, with no dogs living there. Caves would be shelter for the both of them, large ones leading down to the inside of the mountain keeping their own warm temperature.
Bax whined again, turning around and starting to head back. His ears were held back and his tail curled between his back legs, showing fear to any stranger that would come across him, a large mistake on his turn.

[Mind if I join?]
What now..?
Kris had been walking for awhile.. A few days to be somewhat exact. But she was use to walking, or more often, running. It seemed that's what all her life had been, running day after day. But now she had lost her running partner, and the reason to run. But she had never shaken off that need to run; it wasn't as if she had, or wanted to run, she just needed to. But that's what a life of running would do to a dog. The cool alps air rusted around her as she moved, her body hardly registering the chill; her body wanted sleep, but Kris could not give it that, for what if, what if... They came. Quickly she shook her head; They aren't coming after me.. They got what they wanted. she thought bitterly, releasing a small snarl.
Slowly she left out a sigh, what was getting angry going to do? It couldn't bring her brother back, and it couldn't explain why they had to kill him. But she did know why... Because of dear old dad, her thoughts growled. Who ever her dad was, it had resulted in Kane's death. She could only hope he was still alive, so she could kill him herself! With another shake of her head, the dark thoughts dispelled; she didn't need to be thinking about her dad, she should be paying attention to where she was going. Her remaining golden eye looked across the landscape before her.. Something seemed, off.
There seemed to be.. Yes, it was a pup. What was he doing out here all alone? Despite her anti-social behavior,it just didn't seem right to leave the little guy alone. With a sigh, she wandered over to Bax. "Umm... Hey," she ventured, hoping not to scare the younger dog. "What are you doing out here?"
[Ugh, not that good of a post, sorry]

[ooc: Nope, not at all. ^^]
More paranoia would slowly overcome him, making the feeling and his state of mind worse. Bax didn't know if he would know the way back to Tin. Then again, Tin was looking for food as well. Maybe he could get back in time before Bax did, though it would take atleast another day's travel. Thinking simply of that raised his self esteem. Maybe he wasn't the weakling pup that most predicted he would be. Part of being his breed was to develop strong bravery. Maybe he was the one exception.
As he sat there, his ears twitching up and down, sniffing the air, taking in every scent through the nostrils. He was trying to examine everything that was around him, usually the thing that Tin would do. He didn't like being a copycat, but if it could get him out of this snow covered forest, then copying was useful.
He heard footsteps, his ears twitching lightly and panning around. Hungry, thinking it might be something he could eat, his stomach growled, and he kept looking in the same direction. Hearing a voice speaking to him made him jump lightly, and he turned around, his ears laid back, tail being tucked between his legs. Bax was only a little over a year old, even he knew that he wouldn't be able to take down a larger dog, even in a blind rage. The stranger asked why he was there in the first place. His thoughts rattled, trying to find a good explanation. Also, he didn't have to tell her anything. "U-Um.. I'm sorry.." He whimpered, taking a few small steps back. "Is this your land? ... I'm sorry to have tresspassed."

She jumped slightly as the younger dog did; she was on edge as it was, but the quick reaction from the other defiantly tipped her over. She took a few steps back, tensing up, Kris could easy fight against the pup, but she really didn't want to unless she had too. As her golden gaze noticed his ears go back and his tail tuck under, she began to relax. He thinks this is...? she chuckled softly; "You got the wrong idea kid, this ain't my land." Slowly her one eye looked of Bax; she was still wondering what he was doing here. But who was she to judge? She and her brother had been on their own at three months of age, and surely the dog in front of her was older then that.
"Don't know who's land this is... If it is owned by anyone," Kris was beginning to doubt that it was. She had heard rumors that a vicious dog had overtaken Hougen's old hangout, but all her time traveling through she hadn't run into another soul. Save for the dog that cringed in front of her now. Slowly she lifted her eye off of the other and glanced around, her ears straining to listen to any sound. Then she looked down at Bax, her mind struggling to strike up something for conversation; everything seemed to come so easily when it was just her and Kane. "So, umm.. Are you alone, or do you travel with others?" she asked, hoping that it was a valid question. [Sorry my muse kinda died on me xP]

(ooc: Nah, it's fine. As long as I can read it, it's okay. XD)
Bax blinked, one of his ears raising up and his head tilting to the side, usually something a young puppy would do. Not her land? If that really was the case, then he and Tin could come here and live as they pleased without anyone willing to get in the way of it. Of course, he didn't know of any rumors of any others that could be living there. If there were others, then Tin could probably defend Bax and himself. He was a grand champion fighting dog before becoming a wild dog. Maybe he would teach Bax the fighting techniques he had learned, so it would make them both more stronger.
Bax blinked again, after hearing her asked if he was traveling with anyone else. He wasn't sure whether to tell her or not, but if she wasn't an enemy, what harm would it do. He smiled lightly, standing with more dignity and comfort, knowing that this fae wouldn't do any harm to him. "Yeah, I follow Tin, where ever he goes." He told her, his tail starting to wag. "He's taken care of me ever since we left that huge city." He talked more, mentioning about Tokyo, their previous home.

Inwardly, she smiled at the younger dog's puppy-ish reaction; she had never really the chance to be a pup and indulge in the puppy expressions, nor the pure joy of being a pup. This wasn't the first time she thought that her life had been wasted; what would it of been like if everything had turned out differently? If her father hadn't done the things he'd done, whatever they were. And what if she had grown up in her pack, instead of having to run from them? All these things ran uselessly through her mind; Kris couldn't change the past, that she knew all to well.
Her ears cocked as Bax spoke; Tin..? Huge city..? she thought, looking around again. Kris figured that this Tin would be a larger, more formidable dog then the one before her. And a city? She had yet to come across one before, sure she had seen a few in the distance, but nothing more. "What was it like, living in a city?" she inquired, looking down at Bax. "I've never been in one before..." she trailed off, not seeing a reason to explain. She shuffled her front paws slightly, feeling a need to pace; the female could never stand still for long. "Oh, yeah.. My name's Kris. What's yours?"

Bax smiled lightly, seeming as if to himself. He could still remember when Tin saved him from the pit he was forced to fight in. He knew that if Tin hadn't changed his mind at that point, he wouldn't be sitting there. He felt lucky, yet greatful that he had run into the Great Dane that day. Then of course the few things that Tin had taught him since they had been running around in the wild. Maybe they were more than just dogs now. Maybe others would consider them wild animals now?
Bax blinked and looked back to the female dog again, still smiling naturally. He watched her pace, his eyes and head moving to the direction of where ever she was. Hearing her name made him stop a little. "Kris..." He said and cocked his head to the side again, making a small squeaking sound. "Oh yeah, my name is Bax." He said to her, simply stretching out his limbs, feeling more comfortable around this dog now. He had gotten quickly accustomed, being carefree and all. "And the 'city'," He began, trailing off a little for a moment. He didn't have one good memory in the city. Only ones involving his mother, before he was taken away from her. "...I guess it could be a nice place, if you wanted it to be... But it's just a bad place for dogs." He said, plumping down on his haunches, looking down to the ground littered with small patches of ice.

She smiled slightly when the younger dog repeated her name; but it didn't sound the same as it use to be. When she lost her brother, she lost her meaning to live. Now she just wandered around with nothing; did she even deserve to have a name? After all, she couldn't get to him into... And now he was dead. With a quick shake of her head, she pushed away all those depressing thoughts. She couldn't afforded to dwell on those things; what happened, happened, and there was nothing she could do to change that. She focused back just in time to catch the other's name; Bax, huh? she stopped in her pacing and looked over at him. "Well, its nice to.. Umm, meet you," Kris still wasn't that good with formalities, or anything else that dealt with talking to others.
Her eye narrowed slightly as he spoke of the city; A bad place for dogs? she had heard that strays often were able to make a living in cities, but she and never heard that it was a bad place. But what did she know, Kris had never even entered a city; she just heard rumors. But she thought that they might be nice, cities always seemed to have lights glittering away, even in the dark. But the all that light would make it hard for one to hide; maybe that was what Bax meant. "So, I guess you like the forests better?" She didn't think she could ever enter into the city; she would always just have to look at them afar.

Bax seemed a little dazed, thinking much about the time he spent in the city. Then he heard Kris say something about the forest. His ears twitched and he looked back up to the fae. Did he like living here. He never actually thought about it. Then again, he and Tin hadn't really lived in the same place for long. They ran all over from place to place, looking over the land, examining the amount of prey, and if man lived anywhere near the areas. "Well... I guess so far, it's not that bad. There's many trees everywhere. I never saw a tree until I started exploring with Tin." He said to her, looking around, hearing a bird chirp.
Tin. He talked about Tin alot. He was like an adoptive father in a way, but more like a bigger brother, always there when he needed to be. He looked back to the fae, and in account of his ignorance, he finally realized there was a scar over one of her eyes. He blinked. Tin had a scar too. A large one that went from the back of his head, all the way over his face. Then one of his ears was also missing. Those were all battle scars that he had 'earned' while being a fighting dog. The humans looked to it as a sort of trophy, showing how strong the dogs were to have survived an injury like that.
He didn't know if the scar was just an accident, or maybe Kris fought too at some time in her life? She looked like a pretty strong dog, especially being a female. "Um.. I hope you don't mind me asking... but what happened to your eye?" He asked. Though he then figured that it wouldn't have been polite to ask another dog about their scars. He learned this from when he asked the great dane about his scars. He acted strangely, and seemed a little outcasted about the topic, though eventually, he did tell him the two frightening stories.

The city did intrigue her, but she knew that it was no place for her; she belonged out here, with forests and mountains. Kris would never be able to survive in any kind of city, she was born a wild dog, not a stray. Her ears pricked when Bax mentioned not seeing a tree before until he went out with Tin. Tin..? she began to notice that this younger dog was often mentioning this other dog. And she began to wonder what kind of dog this Tin was to the Bax. But it wasn't her place to pry, and he did seem rather happy, or at least, happier then what she was at his age. No matter what she thought of, it always seemed to go back to her horrible past; was she stuck to always re-live those memories?
As the bird chirped, her gaze went to its direction; sitting proudly in his red plumage, the cardinal sang off a few more notes before lifting off. If she had been more attentive, that bird would of made a nice snack. Kris licked her jaws, thinking of the bird's soft flesh; later she would have to hunt. Her golden eye stayed on the bird until he disappeared out of sight; that would be the direction she would eventually go. For there is never just one cardinal around, they always have a mate. As he planned her next course of action, the male's question struck her, and she turned her blind eye toward him. "My eye...?" slowly she turned and faced the younger dog and sat down, letting out a soft sigh. It wasn't an odd question, many others often wondered what had happened to her left eye.
"I lost it," she started slowly, staring down at her paws. "Trying to save my brother." Her muzzle twisted in a snarl as she continued, "I lost an eye, he lost his life." In her mind the tragic scene replayed; oh how she wished it would somehow change. But there was nothing she could do, maybe if she had been faster, he would still be with her. I lost so little, compared to him! she thought, clenching her fangs as she suppressed a growl. Then she remembered that the other dog was around, slowly she returned to the now and let her tensed muscles relax. "S-sorry," she said, turning her head so that her blind side faced Bax. "It still effects me, knowing that I'm alive, and he's not..."

As Bax looked in the cardinal's direction, he smiled a little bit, unaware of Kris's feelings toward it. He hadn't been introduced to the aspect of treating birds as food, unless they were waterfowl or pheasents. Everything else he thought was peaceful, and didn't need anything harmful to happen in their own lives. The only bird he didn't like were crows and ravens. They were always speaking wrongfully of the other creatures, especially dogs, with how they were slaves of humans. He sniffed around a little bit, trying to see if there were any kinds of scents leading to prey that he could bring back to the den.
Her statement made the pup's ears perk up. She lost her eye? That must've been painful. He felt saddned to learn that her brother had died. Bax never really did get to see his siblings, since they were given away, even though they were all only a month old. He could only imagine how it would feel to know one of his own siblings again. He also noticed how angry Kris seemed to get when she started talking about it. He whimpered lightly. Knowing he was a stranger, though he wanted to make her feel a little better. He moved over to her and gently gave a small nuzzle to her shoulder, and he sat back quickly, his tail wagging again. "I'm sure it wasn't your fault." He said, smiling a little bit.

Her blind eye was a constant reminder of that horrible day; yet, she was glad she had lost something. If Kris had lost nothing at all, she would of felt much worse then she did now. It was hard bringing herself out of the past and back into the present. Often her mind dived into the past, much to her disliking, but it often brought back happier times. Though, mostly it just brought back the bad and seldom the good. She jumped slightly when Bax nuzzled her shoulder; it was more of a surprise then anything else. It had been while since she had had contact with another, but she smiled gratefully at the younger dog. His words helped too; it reminded her that it wasn't her fault that Kane was dead. That blame rest solely on her father's shoulders.
"Thanks.. And you're right, it wasn't my fault.." she paused slightly, wondering if she should continue. "...But I often do blame myself." Her paws shuffled slightly at the confession; it was hard for her to talk to others about this and other things. Geez, I must be getting really bad. I'm getting reassured by a kid, she thought with a small chuckle. Slowly she shook her head, then repositioned herself so that she could easily see the younger dog. "So, I was just wondering.. Are you lost or something?" Normally she wouldn't concern herself with others, but this time was an exception. Whether she would admit it or not, Kris was beginning to like the dog before her.

The fae asked if he was lost. He blinked, his ears quirking up. Of course, he had to get back soon. Then again, he thought, what was the worst Tin could do. Plus, he had found a way up to the Southern Alps. It was like he had done half of the work for them. They didn't have to worry about getting lost, since the path was clear, and trees separated themselves, which was a sort of giveaway. The only real thing they had to worry about were bears, strange dogs, and the harsh weather that normally came with winter.
"Yeah... but I kinda know my way back." He said. That sparked a question up. If he knew the way back to the den in the desert, then how was he lost? Then he thought about Kris. If she was a friend, she might be able to help him and Tin around the mountains, hopefully finding some sort of shelter before considering a cave as being their home. "Me and Tin are planning to live here, so pretty soon this will be my home." He said, smiling lightly, and his tail began wagging again.

It really wasn't her place to be asking this dog whether he was lost or not, she didn't even know why she had even bothered to ask. But she had, and it was done and over with now. Least she was starting to get along with other canines, instead of completely avoiding them like she had once done. Kris' gaze wondered slightly as she waited for Bax to answer her question. This place reminded her of the forest where she had lost Kane, but of course, it wasn't. She could never bring herself to go back to that forest.
Her ears swiveled to catch the younger dog's words; so he wasn't entirely lost, or so he seemed to say. Which was good, or at least that's what she thought. Was she even suppose to think that? Geez, interacting with others was hard. But the next words out of Bax's mouth surprised her; He and Tin are going to... "Live here?" the questioned slipped out before she had a chance to hold it back. She had been traveling through this area for awhile now, and well, it wasn't her idea of a home; not that he ever even had any ideas for a home. For Kris was a wanderer by force, not need.
"Interesting choice for a home..." she said, finding nothing else to say. She herself could never picture staying in one spot for too long; she always had to move, to travel. She didn't know why she had to, there really was no reason, except for that small force in the back of her mind that drove her to travel. Maybe if every dog had to flee for their life every day starting at three months old, maybe they too, would have this driving force.

This conversation had gotten Bax into thinking more about the area around them. If fate had different plans for the two dogs, the titanous mountain range wouldn't be the home for them. Just a little place to keep them alive, until they would be fit enough to travel somewhere else. If things weren't going as well as the older dog had planned, they would have to consider one of his fears, joining a pack. Bax didn't really know why Tin was against living in a pack. Maybe it was because his whole life he was a fighting dog, killing other dogs relentlessly. Fear of living that kind of life again, he tried to keep from living with a large pack, or perhaps being a part of a pack that would indulge themselves into fighting in wars and battles, where he had to kill other dogs.
Bax nodded to her comment about living in the Southern Alps. He looked around again, and feeling a sudden chill from the wind, he shuddered lightly. For the time, this place wouldn't be good for dogs that had shorthaired fur. The desert wouldn't help them at all, there was barely any prey that would keep them full for the time traveling around this area. "We might not stay that long though. The other place that he was thinking of staying is..." Bax trailed off lightly, trying to see if he could remember the location's name. "Sutakousei..?"
