Leander lifted his large snout to the sky and blinked in the harsh rays of the new sun. Pain vibrated from the windows of his manic blue eyes and jostled the uneasy pieces of thoughts, laying desolate as dried bones inside his mind. He turned, not bearing to stare in this direction for a moment longer, despite the foreboding veiw of the rock formation that sent chills and thrills like electricity up Leander's spine.
It wasn't a wholly pleasant feeling, it was a bit like being dunked in cold water but it made his heart beat faster and Leander opened his mouth to breathe in the curiously fresh air in such a stifled and oppressive place and enjoy the warm, fevered racing of his broken thought tracks.
He wondered how Brone was dealing with this, probably not well Probably scared shitless from a bunch of rocks in a fancy pile, Squaring his huge shoulders he stalked slowly around the formation and into the open clearing that surrounded it, digging his huge claws into the dirt and leaving a large pawprint there.
Looking back to admire his work he laughed, his high pitched giggling (which was somehow always much more frightening than any growl the Lion could produce).

Brone yawned, sitting down in the shade of the rocks. They were nothing more than stone to him. It didn't matter how they got there, or to whom they belonged. Right now they created shade, and that's all he wanted. They'd been traveling for who knows how long. It seemed like weeks now, and Brone's stomach was starting to growl with the old craving that never seemed to ease. He had tasted it before, many times in fact. The flesh of dog, the tender sinew and silky smooth organs. Just the thought was enough to make his stomach growl. A slight grimace pulled over his muzzle, and he glanced at his brother. "What do you suppose we do now?" It would have been nice to laze about for at least a few hours, let their bones rest for a while before heading out again. He didn't know where they were going, or why. Leander was leading this time, and Brone would follow to wherever his tainted notions brought them.
A loud huff left the dog's throat as he yawned, a flash of pink lulling out of his wide jaws as he stretched them wide. His fangs seemed to catch the light from the still rising sun. Those jaws, that massive muzzle, was enough to put even the bravest dogs off. Him and his brother were of the same blood sure, but it was Brone that had earned the name Iron jaw, and Leander the name of Lion dog.
Leander's reasons were completely obvious as to why he had earned that name, but Brone's, they were different. His face was a bit wider, not with fur but with muscle instead. Those jaws had tasted the lives of others all to many times in the past, and were sure to do so in the future as well.
His tail twitched and he lifted his head, realizing that he had dozed off for the moment. A loud groan left his throat before he hauled himself up onto his paws again and taking a few steps forward, stretching out his aching muscles. "We both need to eat something soon... We may not get another chance for quite some time if we keep going like this." Brone grumbled dully.

"You need to focus on the bigger picture, brother". said Leander dryly stopping and turning around to observe his darker, younger brother. "You always were very closed minded, always thinking of your stomach. You have no vision". He padded forward and nudged Brone's belly with his muzzle half antagonistically and half almost playfully. "Think for a moment would you? What have we seen sense we started? Squirrels? Highways? Nothing! No action, no...interaction". thinking of the many dead guard dogs and terriers Brone had consumed on this journey he licked his wrist with his long pink tongue, his manic grin playing on his jowls.
"We were traveling to nowhere in particular, I scented dogs here, yes, not just the usual stray pack. Lots of dogs, and they gather here occasionally". He sniffed deeply. "They've died here, this place obviously is a significant land mark. And have you scented the air? It's so sweet, I bet farther in it's lush. I know the prey is running, and by the looks of the local activities it's for both of us. Follow me"?
He lashed his tail and licked his chops.
