"Mooooom. I'm hungry. The pup whined, his head dropped down. "And I'm tired of just looking at dirt. He pawed feebly at the air, really wishing his mother would stop carrying him for awhile. "I know dear. I'll find you something. Promise. And its not safe here." The hybrid mumbled through clenched jaws, her fangs carefully holding the pup by his neck scruff. She didn't say so, but there was no telling what might lurk out there. If she put him down and something snatched him out form under his nose ... she couldn't live with herself. "Just a little longer." "But -"
"Hush!" Ducking down, the mixbreed searched the woodland rapidly. Her ears twitched furiously as she tried to pinpoint the direction of a sound. Footsteps. Something was coming ... "Don't speak until I say so." The mother dog warned, before scurrying into the brush, pup in tow.

[hope you don't mind me joining ^^]
Up in the trees a brightly colored cat was starting to arouse from a long nap, stretching and giving a quiet growling yawn as he extended his various sharpened claws. Those claws of his could be seen glinting even on a black night, the last thing many fish saw before they were caught and devoured. Occasionally there were the few birds he actually had the energy to catch or the hare that foundered its way towards his encampment along the river side here and there. Today, he had caught a hare and was sleeping well away from the river since he had been to tired and lazy afterwards the chase. Stretching once more and sitting upon his haunches as he started cleaning his red and teal accented fur, those rounded auds twitched as the sound of hurrying feet came by with what looked like a furball in the mouth. Hmm.. a frightened parent or thief from the litter cannibal? He muttered to himself quietly, chomping his lips together a few seconds to get an itch before deciding on what he wanted to do. Jumping down from the tree in a partially clumsy manner, he landed on all fours and began to chase after the runner. "Wait, hold on.. what's the hurry? No one is around here.." He called out just loud enough. He didn't want to be proven wrong that someone was here to give him trouble over his camping in their territory and be unhappy with another trespasser as well.

Whatever it was, was heading towards them faster. She was being chased! Paranoia would dictate nothing else, as she ran all the swifter. Ducking past low hanging underbrush, pup still in tow, she weaved through the foliage. She had to get away, she could not let her only reaming son come to harm! A voice called out to her, but she paid it no heed.
Such tricks she would not fall for! No one here it said? They were here! She kept running, and would never have stopped. If she had not nearly tumbled headlong into a river. Skidding to a stop with a great uprising of dust, she fell to a halt just as her paws scrapped the edge of the river bank.
