There's a chapter being written, right now, in the book of the bear dog legends. A chapter others are beginning to read, others all over the world are coming to investigate.
Rumor has it that in the mountains of the Southern Alps, nestled neatly in the midst of them all in a nook far from mankind's destructive hands, is a place where stars are born. A shrine built directly into the island's bedrock sits cozily atop a small foothill. Surrounded in trees, it is said to be impossible to see. Protected by magic, it is said to be impossible to infiltrate. And sealed deep inside is a power that matches the fiery intensity of our galaxy's own sun.
Sutakousei. The rebirth of stars.
The whole galaxy supposedly exploded from this very spot in rural japan, power that knows no bounds lies within, and dogs all over are beginning to see the value of that. It's secluded, far from anyone, and laying inside is a supernatural gift that could heal all wounds, might cease all pains. Some say, it is a spring full of glowing white water that heals and regenerates lost limbs. Others think it is an amulet that grants invisibility, a cloak that is a tough as shield, armor that grants the wielder unyielding speed and strength. Others think it's an animal. The creator, God essentially, locked away until the time came when the Earth is in danger and his powers would be needed to save it.
Whatever it is, the one who unleashes it will receive power and glory the likes of which canine kind has never seen.
That is, if you can reach the shrine.
But Sutakousei is a sacred place, just like the Futago Pass and the legendary Ohu Mountains it lays at the crest of. Those who venture forth must either be pure enough at heart to appease the shrine guardians or cold-blooded enough to simply mow them all down. Now is the time to act either way. The Shrine dogs have suffered disease and hardship, their numbers lower than ever before. Their defenses are crumbling, the shrine is awakening and the power within is reaching out for release.
