When Creating A Character, You Must...[/size]
- Use the form provided. Usually I am an advocate of creative bio styles so you may make minor changes or add some things as needed, maybe change the font style or color or whatever. But try and keep the format the same, to make acceptance easier on the staff.
- Must have a simplified image (basically a drawing of some sort, as opposed to a photograph) of your character. It may be inspired by a photo or even designed after a dog seen in a photo but there must be at least one image of your character to show that character's markings and over all appearance without the complexity of a real photograph, be it a recolored screenshot or a colored template. We have numerous facilities to help you obtain this sort of image so it should not be difficult to get one and, since this is a Ginga based site with an artist for an administrator, it should not be surprising.
- Wait until your character is accepted before rping. Period. Though I'm not pointing fingers, I know people have a tendency to powerplay in these sorts of rp conditions. Everybody wants to be like Weed or Gin, but unfortunately, that can't be so. So, before rping, you must wait until a staff member has looked over your bio and accepted that your character is not a Mary Sue or in danger of god-moding/powerplaying.
- Which brings us to the biggest rule: Your character must be balanced! And when I say balanced, I mean not invincible/perfect. Most people think that a perfect character is just a character that is unbeatable, but that's not true. A perfect character (or a Mary Sue) is one that is good, great, or otherwise superior to the average in all aspects of life: Social (meaning the ability to make friends and get along with others), Physical (the ability to fight and attack), and Mental (the ability to think, rationalize and otherwise be intelligent). Your character cannot be great at all three things. A character who gets along with others, can fight fairly well (but not exceptionally) and is really smart is too close to a Mary Sue to be accepted. Try to choose one thing for your character to be good at, one thing for them to be so-so/fairly good at, and one thing for them to totally suck to high heaven at. That's a balanced character.
Do not fret. We are not mean spirited people here. Both staff and members will be glad to assist you if you are having difficulty. I'm just letting you know now that we're a little picky about character creation, so do not be surprised when a staff member asks you to change something. Do not take it personally. ;3
Our Character Creation System...
Has recently been modified. To make accepting characters as easy as possible on the busy staff members of the forum, the character bio form has been adjusted to include a series of "yes or no" questions in the personality section. These questions should be answered simply and briefly and require no immediate explanation. Their purpose is to save staff members the trouble of reading paragraph after paragraph after paragraph of character profile and somehow manage to weed out strengths, weaknesses and other such aspects of the character's personality, only to then have to try and make some logic out of it.
The question system functions in a manner such as this: each section has 6 questions. If the majority of the questions are answered yes, the character is strong in that particular sections. If the majority are answered No, then the character is weak. "Somewhat" answers are generally not counted. So, if a character has 4 "somewhat's" and 2 "no's" in a particular section, the staff will only count the 2 no's when evaluating the majority answer.
Please keep this in mind when creating your character. They have to be balanced, remember, so you should not (and cannot) answer every single question "yes". You should have at least 6 negative answers, though a perfectly balanced character would have 9.
Character Creation Rules
1. Make sure all characters are balanced, original and not Mary Sues (basically, what I said above, but abbreviated ;3)
2. Characters do not have to be dogs or even animals native to Japan. But characters should still fit into the setting and environment in which the rp takes place. Meaning, a sighthound with short fur should probably have some sort of protection during the winter so it doesn't freeze. Likewise, a lion that may end up here should have some sort of explanation as to why it's ended up in Japan.
3. Though all sorts of creatures are allowed, any animal not a dog or human will need administrative permission before creation. This rp is about the dogs so, any animal not a dog will cost you a little cash.
4. Cash is an OOC money system for the site that can be used to purchase new characters of a different species, along with a few magical powers (which will be outlined below) or a particular historical theme. For example, a Kaibutsu-type character will cost you quite a bit of money to create and play, just to be sure everyone doesn't end up playing a character of that nature. All prices will be outlined at the bottom of the thread.
Cash is earned primarily by simply posting and being active, but also through contests, by advertising, by fulfilling requests, making templates or otherwise being extremely welcoming and helpful. Good, involved, trustworthy members make money fast. Others... not so much.
5. Though magic is allowed, this is not a fantasy rp. So, players must purchase magic for characters and can only purchase one of the following abilities:
- Premonition This is a character gifted with visions of the near or coming future. The visions are rarely clear or straight forward and must usually be interpreted via symbolism and such. A premonition can only occur once per thread.
- Post cognition This is a character gifted with visions of the past. Unlike premonitions, these visions are usually clear, like memories, and usually feature traumatic or otherwise important scenes, such as major battles. They can be used to study strategies used long ago or to gain enthusiasm after watching a relative die bravely. Post Cognition can occur anytime a character is near unconsciousness or sleeping, such as when they faint, get hit really really hard and are winded, or when they are dying. Visions can be shared with anyone the character is touching at the time and it does not include the ability to talk to or communicate with spirits.
For an extra $80 I will allow a character with post cognition to see an event at a particular location by simply touching an object that has been there with a particular part of their body (ie- nose, left paw, etc).
- Sensitivity This is a character gifted with one of two things: either they are a Nature Sensitive or a Spirit Sensitive. Nature Mediums (or sensitives) are able to sense on coming natural phenomenon, such as storms, sudden weather changes, and natural disasters like floods. They are typically gifted with keener senses that allow them to pick up on these things and almost seem to be able to communicate with the world around them, listening to the trees and whispers on the wind. Spirit Mediums are very much the same, only instead of sensing nature, they sense spirits or ghosts. They can often hear, see and communicate with things normal creatures can't and can infuse the fighting spirit of fallen warriors into their own, enhancing their own warrior's spirit (but nothing else, no super speed or anything) to overcome injuries and difficult challenges. Sensitives can only use their abilities freely when they are skilled enough to wield them, which takes years of practice and learning. Without it, the visions and sensations hit at complete random and are often overwhelming. From an OOC perspective, sensitives can only be used a few times per thread. I won't limit the number, but try to keep it below three or so unless the thread is really long.
5. Beyond the ones listed above, no magical powers are allowed. Characters are otherwise supposed to be realistic within the confines of the Ginga series. So no wings or horns or anything mythical like that.
6. Since characters in the Ginga anime have been portrayed in various colors, styles, and marking patterns, your character's appearance may stretch the boundaries of realism. They can be blue, pink, green, red, wear clothing, piercings, and even have human weapons.
7. However, character size must fall within the show regulated size range for their breed. So no 36 in tall huskies. If you don't know how tall your character is supposed to be, look it up or ask for help.
8. No look alike characters! Meaning nobody who looks EXACTLY like Weed or Gin or John or Jerome, unless it's part of a plot of some sort. And even then, they should have different personalities from the ones displayed in the anime. I told you, this is an original rpg. And there's no way around that so deal with it.
9. Also, characters generally should not be able to perform fighting moves or styles displayed in the anime. Moves like Gin and Weed's Battouga will cost you some cash if you wish to use it in rp, as does "ball-snatching". (If you and your character have a particular move you use, you may pm me about it and I can add it to list.)
10. Characters may be kept on one account or (preferably) be kept on separate accounts. Either method is acceptable.
11. When it comes time to name your character, try not to choose a name already in use. Particularly if it is unique. Whoever uses a name first generally has 'dibs' on it, meaning they can decide whether or not another person can use that same name. So, if you try to use their character's name, you must respect their request if they ask you to change it. Likewise, when asking someone to change their character's name, be nice about it. It's nothing to start a fight over.
Edit: We now have a list of all used names here, which you can use to make sure the name is not already taken.
12. If you wish to have your character be a relative of one of the canon characters from either Ginga series, you will need to pay up. Once again, since this is an original rp, we want to avoid excessive uncreative tie-ins to the original show the site is based on. However, sometimes it's fun to have neat family ties, so they are allowed in moderation.
Since GDO takes place some time after the last of the Ginga series, the closest your character can be related to canon is Grandchild (unless your character is excessively old).
Grandchild- $150

Great-Great-grandchild- $100
Other form of 3rd generation- $100
Other form of 4th generation- $70

13. Due to an overflow of new characters, there is a new character limit as of 12.23.10. No one is allowed more than 15 characters. This ban may be lifted if people actually start role playing more than creating characters just for the heck of it (Teffi).

Price-$100BANNED
-
;:Zetsu Tenrou Battouga:;
An attack where the dog takes a running start, jumps into the air and begins to spin in a circle at the chosen target. If the attack hits at full force the target will be attacked by the fangs of the attacker, ripping off a body part or severely scarring the target. In some cases (mostly with large targets) the Battouga will cut through the target like a saw completely amputating a body part. If the target moves, however the Battouga is usually a waste or will not hit at nearly enough force to be lethal. It also takes a lot of energy, strength, and focus out of the user and so it is rare that the Battouga can be preformed more than twice in a row.
Price-$150$200
-
;:Tesshin's Imitation Battouga:;
Same as Battouga, only before making contact with the target, the dog will suddenly stop spinning and land a surprise agility-based attack made to hit the target as many times as possible using speed as the main advantage. This does not take as much energy, strength, or focus but after the first go at the attack it can usually be expected and stopped rather easily.
Price-$75$100
-
;:Sniper Claws;:
Player's claws are enhance beyond the normal sharpness of a canine's claws. Their canines are sharper and thicker than a feline's.
Price-$135
-
;:Bite 'N Strike;:
Player clamps onto the enemy and spins their body to tear at the flesh with their fangs.
Price-$115
-
;:Ninja Legs:;
Player has the ability to leap on to high objects (ie tress) with great ease and agility. Can be used as a way to attack from above or as a great fleeing method.
Price-$150
-
;:Seiran's Nose Tweek:;
Player latches on to the snout of an opponent and with a effortless motion, brakes or twists the bones surrounding the nose.
Price-$150
-
;:Ron's Jaw Breaker:;
Should a player be faced with an opponent barreling towards them, they simply lower their head and bring it up with amazing force, ideally beneath the jaw of an angry dog. This can cause anything from a mere broken tooth to a broken neck, depending on the size of the dog and where their opponent was hit.
Injuries can be sustained by both players, so it must be used sparingly.
Price- $200
-
;:Gamu's Senses;;
Player has the ability to speak via telepathy. Though, if the user is untrained in this skill, it's only workable from a few feet.
Price- $270
-
;:Mistral:;
Player has the ability to manipulate a minor gust of wind, there-by stirring up dust or leaves to impede the vision of an opponent. Like Gamu, if an enemy has launched themselves in the air, they may attack by swiftly bouncing off of branches created by said gust.
This must be used in addition to other ninja techniques or Nature Sensitivity
Price- $150
-
;:Rolling Thunder:;
Player is able to create a rocky landslide or maneuver large boulders down cliffs and hills towards an opponent, similar to Moss' attack on Ben at Six Tree Ridge.
Though if the surface even slightly dips back towards the user, the weight of a large rock can easily crush the dog and/or it's allies.
Can only be used by large dogs (115lb +)
Price-$175
-
;:Multiple Illusion:;
A player runs so fast that there appears to be more than one of them. As John did in the series
