Lift paw, move it forward, step, repeat ... how long had she been doing this terribly repetitive motion? Days, weeks, months? She no longer had any grasp on the amount of time it had been since she'd left the ones she owed everything too behind. But that was why she'd left, wasn't it? She didn't want to be a burden any longer and, really, what else could a half blind mutt with a faulty leg be? Nothing other then bloody useless, that's what. But she was still alive, hungry, but alive.
She continued to move at a casual pace through the trees and various other forms of foliage, triangular ears pinned back against her skull and partially hidden beneath her dark mohawk. She bit back a sigh as she tried to distract her mind for a bit and tried to track down the scent of something ... anything even remotely interesting or, preferably, edible.
It was then that her wonderfully reliable hind leg decided it was going to give out and it made her sway precariously for a moment, but she didn't fall. This little mishap did, however, inspire a slew of curses to fly out of her muzzle to be quickly followed by a deep growl of frustration.

Goldie finally gave up, it was no use to continue to waste so much energy on just wandering around- its no use moving if you don't know where your going. She sat on her haunches, helplessly lost as always.
Hmm, maybe I can try to get something to eat finally. Golide gazed upward to the darkening sky, I wounldnt be having anything to worry about if I wasn't so ambitious to get outside... there is plenty of food where humans are.
She streatched her back, shaking and ruffling her black blue fur. The sudden noise of another dog cursing and growling starltled her, Goldie jumped and crashed into some bushes. Her yellow-gold eyes tried to scan the are of trees and folliage, ears laid back in caution.

Two brown eyes, one bearing a scar, watched with incredible patience as a hare nibbled on the grasses in front of them. 'That's it, little closer.' Aspen centered his left front leg, his only front leg underneath his chest, preparing to strike. Just as the unsuspecting creature was nearing his hiding place it looked up, startled by some noise. Then something crashed through the bushes beyond Aspens sight and spooked the hare entirely. "Shit," Aspen cursed to himself, it was by pure luck that it ran straight for him. With more agility than most dogs with his handicap, he snatched the hare in his jaws just as it realized what it was running towards. Ever curious, the Golden Retriever/Leonberger cross carefully made his way to the bushes he heard the noise from, carrying his prize with him lest he let anyone steal it. When he peered through the leaves he saw a black female with golden eyes crouching within it. She appeared to be hiding from something, so dropped the hare and quietly crawled, quite awkwardly given his three legs, up to her. "What are you doing," he whispered.

((OoC:: yeah, qismah hasn't been on in forever, sooo I'm gonna skip over her. just to continue the thread...))
Goldie jumped at the noise of another dog's whisper scared her, Whoa, I thought that noise came from a completely different place! The dog before her had two brown eyes, one with a deep scar down it, a golden brown pelt, one front leg, and sporting a blue bandana around his neck.
It took her a moment to answer his question, "Well, to be honest, I really don't even know what I'm doing... I'm kinda...sorta," Goldie eyes peered at the ground as her paw made a circle in the ground, "...well, lost. It happens alot..." She sheepishly shrugged her furry shoulders.
Goldie shook the thought of her and Ritzuka lost in the forest so mush time ago with an actual physical shake of her head, "A-Anyway, what about you, sir?"
Her golden yellow eyes stared at the other dog with joy and curiousity, a small simle on her face as she awaited his response.

Aspen returned the smile with one of his own. "That depends if you want to know why I'm here right now or in general. The first one is probably shorter though. I was hunting and your crashing around like a wild boar almost made me lose my lunch, so to speak." He raised one eyebrow and gave a false scolding look before changing back to his regular kind expression. "By the way, if your hungry, there's probably enough hare to go around."

Goldie felt instantly ashamed for her horrible sneaking skills as a dog when the other dog mentioned her noisyness. Her bushy tail tucked between her legs and ears laid flat as she said, "Y-yeah... So-sorry about almost making you loose out on a meal." The took a 180 in attitude and his anger seemed to melt away when he mentioned the abundnant food around here. Goldie perked up, "Really?" an idea suddenly flashed, "I know, since I causd you some grief, why don't I russle us up some grub?" She wasn't the bes hunter in the world, but she could get by on what she caught. Goldie perked up, "I'll even try and grab your favorite!" It was then that she realized she didn't even have a name to refer to the other dog. "Whats your name, by the way, mister?" Goldie woofed happily. ((OoC:: I ... love ... your sig .... .... -strokes- Good sig.... Good sig...))

((OOC- Thnx, it was a pain to makebut I'm happy with it. The kanji symbol in the background means friendship, which is what they are. )) "Aspen," he answered politely, "And thank you for the offer, but my father taught me a gentleman never let's a female do all the work for him." He paused to casually lick his paw, it gets sore from it having to do the work of two. "So, we'll both hunt and get twice as much." He got up and left the shelter of bushes, not giving her time to protest if she would. Once he was out he shook his golden brown coat giving it a fluffier appearance for a few seconds and looked back towards the bushes, waiting for her to appear. "By the other way, I didn't catch your name either, Miss."

Goldie was genuinely impressed by how dignified he was. What a gentleman! She hated to admit it, but missing out on a chance to help another out was a little faltering, yet his next statement completely casted any doubt out of her mind.
She chippered up instantly, "That sounds great!" Father? I wonder if I'm gonna meet this gentleman? Goldie followed Aspen into the underbrush, she felt leaves and small twigs brush up against her fur. My name... oh, yeah, that's right! Goldie was a bit preoccupied on whether or not she would ever be able to meet his father, Maybe the poor guy's daddy died... Although I really shouldn't be thinking about stuff like that right now. "My name's Goldie!"She said, trying to think about something different, like food- lots of it!
Just as she was about to exit, Goldie looked up and a small twig poked her in the nose and she yelped. "YIEP! That hurt!" Her body was still half way in the bush and her paw was busily trying to rub the pain away.
It soon diminished into a dull manageable throb and she realized with a start that she had just probably scared off most of the prey in the area, and that was gonna extend their hunting at least by a few more hours.
Goldie's ears flattened. Stupid me... "I-I am so sorry....."

"My name's Goldie!" she said.
'Huh, Goldie, I can see why,' Aspen thought as he looked into her pretty gold-colored eyes.
Her sudden cry startled him and he rushed over to see if she was alright. His worried expression softened when she stuttered an apology. Knowing what she meant, he just slowly wagged his tail assuringly and said, "Hey, I just hope you're okay. Besides, no harm done, this just means we have more time to talk while we look for something to eat." Suddenly, he got a wiley gleam in his eye and said, "You know, I've always wondered if it would be fair for a three-legged dog to race a dog with a sore nose." Not really, but it fit the time and place. "So, I guess you'll have to give me a head start." Without warning he bolted forward, heading into a field, laughing all the the way. ha ha ha ha ((bad jingle bells parody))

((OoC:: LMAO I WAS NOT EXPECTING THAT!! -holds back laughter to type-))
Goldie grinned enthusiastically, almost waiting for a 'ready set go' just as it had been with Ritzuka. Her tail became a blur, it was wagging so fast. She was so thrilled to finally just be able to just have fun. Suddenly, he bolted off on three legs. Wow, he's fast, despite that 'disability'... Goldie had to first crawl out of the bushes and get up to run.
She moved her paws nimbly at first to catch up with him, giggling and laughing. When she was side by side to Aspen, Goldie began to playfully nip at him- very carefully, of course, she did not want to hurt him. By then she had forgotten all about the pain that was in her nose. "What was that about a head start, I didn't catch that!" she said as she harmlessly made a nip at his ear.

Aspen let out another laugh when she started nipping him. "Cheater!" he said while laughing. He tried to nip her back, but gave up because it wasn't starting to make him lose his balance. The grass whipped past him and he enjoyed the wind ruffling his fur. He continued the run for a few more minutes, thanks to his athletic endurance, but finally started to slow. 'I never was as good at sprinting as Echo,' he thought to himself, before finally coming to a stop. "Alright, I give, you win," he puffed out. Aspen let his large tongue hang out of the side of his mouth and pretended to die. He coughed weakly before flopping onto his side and rolling onto his back with his legs in the air. After being 'dead' for a few seconds, he opened one eye and grinned at her. Aspen rolled back onto his stomach and got up, shaking the loose blades of from his shaggy pelt. "That was fun!" he exclaimed. "But, I really worked up an appetite so we should probably go find something to eat now."

Goldie laughed as he tried to nip at her back. She nearly fell down from all the laughter when he called her a "Cheater!" Her heart felt as though it could practically burst from joy. Or maybe that was all the running.
They finally slowed, which was good, Goldie felt she could go on for another 10 feet. Her pink tongue was already out panting in heavy gasps. Her eyes were looking down when she head a plop sound showing Aspen had fallen to the ground. She froze.
She looked up to see Aspen had fallen to the ground and he wasn't moving with his paws in the air. She willed her mouth to stop panting and she tentatively walked to him. Goldie's ears laid back, Oh no... he can't be... She neared him and nuzzled the side of his head.
Suddenly, he opened an eye and grinned at her. She jumped, Z-Zombie?! Goldie had heard of Ritzuka telling her about them, that they were already dead so you cannot kill them and that they eat your brains.
He rolled over and mentioned food and Goldie smiled, "Okay! Food really does sound delicious right now," she suddenly had an idea, " Why don't we go after something big!" She was getting excited and a little ahead of herself. Her tail wagged and wagged.

((OOC-sorry 'bout the short post, i don't know what else to add to it.))
Goldie really surprised him with her exuberance and her watch as her tail went back and forth at a mile a minute. "Whoa, easy there. If you're really up for it, we could either go for some deer or boars," he suggested what he figured was common in the area. "But deer are pretty fast and cautious so we'd have to be faster and more importantly quiet." He smiled and paused, hoping she got the hint. "Otherwise boar are really strong and mean, it could be dangerous. I let it be your call."

((OoC:: lol, it's okay, happens to everyone in a post!))
Goldie unconsciously looked at his missing leg, I would never forgive myself if something ever happened to him... "Deer, I hear it's really tasty and tendetr!" She remembered that they were supposed to be quiet. Goldie then tried to enter stalk mode by lowering herself to the ground to crawl. After a few moments she said in a raspy whisper, "Umm.... Which way?"

Aspen was personally glad that she chose deer, he had already lost one of his friends and didn't want to lose a second. He watched her crouch low to the ground and ask him which way to go. Honestly, he wasn't sure at the moment. Aspen lowered his nose to the ground and breathed all of the aromas in the grass and slowly lifted his muzzle to the wind. He took a few steps forward and swayed his head back and forth a few times. Finally, he had it! The wind coming from the north swirled around his nose and within carried the faint odor of deer. "Quick come here, do you smell it," he whispered eagerly, not wanting the wind to stop before she got up. He wanted to teach her everything he knew about hunting. If they ever got seperated, it would ease his mind if he knew she was able to hunt for herself.
