As the wind whipped over the barren land that once was inhabited with humans... the signs of their presence still haunting the now empty area. Weeds and different vegetation had taken over their rightful places over the land, and now stood tall and plentishful, though the rest of the land seemed to be so dilapidated. As the wind blew through the grasses once again, one thing was out of place and would catch the watchful eye. Only the slight movement of the grass and bits of black pelt betrayed his position.
Ginshin was weary from his traveling, and his sore and blistered paws showed it. As bits of the still remaining buildings came into view, the canine sighed a deep breath of relief... Shelter at last. Mustering up his remaining strength, he pushed himself forward before he made it to the entrance of what appeared to be an old shack... Despite all of the years of being unused by the humans, it still stunk of their presence. His nose wrinkled in detest some, but a shelter was a shelter... and he wasn't going to argue having a roof over his head.
Finding an old bale of hay, he tossed himself down into it and groaned as he felt a familiar ache pass through his limbs. Quickly though, he began to tend to his torn pads, cleaning them and making sure that any bits of debris would be removed. It had been a while since the German Shepherd Doberman Mix had actually taken a little time to himself and actually settled down somewhere half way decent to rest, at least he didn't believe he had anything to worry about here.
Once finished with his bit of first aid, he settled his jaw down onto one of his forelegs and let his eyes flutter closed. Despite the constant haunt of nightmares that seemed to find their way into his mind, for once... he actually believed that he'd have a good nights rest. To avoid the pain the night caused on his mind, he would often tire himself out so much physically that his body had no choice but to give in... This was his only way of truly sleeping, no matter how difficult it may be. Letting his body go limp he dozed off lightly, snuggling down into the hay.

Paws dug into the ground, sending dirt flying through the air, landing on the hard earth a few feet way. The paws stopped working for a few seconds as their owner opened her muzzle and let her tongue hang out. She panted hard, her chest and legs were already covered in a thin layer of dirt; yet still her prize alluded her. Licking her muzzle, she closed her mouth and went back to digging; pulling out clumps of dirt and roots. Then her claws slid through something softer then the dirt. Quickly she stopped digging and brought her muzzle into the hole she had dug. Teeth fastened into the strange object, the with a force full tug, she managed to pull the thing up.
Clamped into the young dog's jaws was what humans called, a potato. Kai would of preferred something living, but in this place there wasn't a scent of anything she could turn into prey. She had to settle for this thing; Rei had taught her how to find things like these. Though, Kai never thought she'd actually have to one day. She bit into the dirt covered vegetable with ravaged gulps, swallowing the thing almost whole. The potato didn't last past three bites. Darn, she thought with a heavy sigh. I've searched forever and this was the only thing I could find. Her usually bright green eyes, were now dull with exhaustion as she over looked the many holes she had dug. Her paws were sore and bleeding slightly from all the abuse they had suffered; Guess this is it for tonight.
Walking with a slight limp, Kai took herself to a large puddle she had found earlier and rolled her body into it, washing off the dirt. It took awhile to wash off all the dirt that covered her body, but eventually her white pelt was shining again, as was her strange crimson head marking. Soaked to the bone, Kai splashed out of the puddle and shook most of the water off herself. With heavy paws, she walked over to the place she had used for shelter the night before. Kai stumbled into the shelter, then froze and gave a small snarl, sleeping on one of the few bales of hay was a strange dog. "Who the hell are you?!" she growled, pinning her ears back against her head. Despite being young, she could give a big appearance; raising the fur along her spine and fluffing out her curled tail.

((Yay! :3 Hello!))
Ginshin hadn't even noticed the entrance of the other canine, instead he was happily snoozing in the bail of hey. He wasn't exactly completely asleep, but enough as to where he would get some well needed rest. However, his ears twitched as an unfamiliar voice filled the air and he lazily let his eyes flutter open. Once his eyes adjusted they came to settle on the young dog and her tough appearance. He lifted his head up before a wide yawn spread his jaws and he pushed himself up to his four, stretching a little before then flopping himself down on his rump and scratching at one of his ears with a rear paw. "Who the hell am I? I could ask the same of you.." He said, his own green eyes fixing onto hers for a moment before he snorted and went to tend to get the hay from his fur.
Despite her big appearance, Ginshin still weighed a bit more then she did, and knowing that fact he knew that for the most part he'd be okay. He huffed a little, frustrated that he hadn't been able to continue his rest, and after he was satisfied with his pelt he looked back towards her. "Well? If you're just going to stand there... I'm going back to sleep." He said, yawning again before flopping back down onto his side into the hay.

[Hi ^^]
"I'm the one who asked first!" Kai barked angrily, taking a few steps toward the strange dog. "I found this place last night, so I got the right to know who you are." Her red ears twitched with annoyance as she watched him plop back down onto the hay. A low growl rumbled in her throat as her tail lashed back and forth. "I wasn't done talking with you," she snarled, digging her coal black claws into the rotting floor. Her green gaze pierced his lump of a body for a moment longer, then she snorted and turned around. "To hell with you," she growled, walking out of a shelter and into the barren landscape.
Wind whipped at her fur as soon as Kai stepped out of the building; it had definitely picked up since she was digging for food. She walked a few feet away, muttering curses and glancing over her shoulder to give a hateful look to the dog inside. With a small sigh, she sat down and stared at her paws, I hate this... The cold wind slipped through her fur and entered her small body, making her shiver. Why does summer have to be over? I hate the cold. Suddenly something plopped onto her nose, making her look up to the darking clouds, Just what I need... Rain. The water droplets started slowly at first, then it became a complete down pour, soaking Kai's fur in seconds. Quickly she ran back toward the broken down building and paused at the entrance. She stared into the dry shelter for a few moments, then sat down, just outside of its protection. Kai would rather freeze then share a shelter with a dog she didn't know.

As Kai had left the shelter, Ginshin's ears twitched slightly and a sigh huffed from his chest. He could feel the piercing feeling of her glaring back towards him, but he simply ignored it and did his best to focus his attention back onto getting rest. Hunkering down a bit more as he felt a few trickles of a cool breeze he grumbled some as the smell of fresh moisture passed over his nose. Rain... he awaited then the sounds of pawpads entering back into the building... But when none came he rolled over onto his side and gazed outwards towards the opening. Seeing as she didn't return, but he could still smell the scent of wet dog he rolled his eyes and pushed himself back onto his four. "What a pain... This is why I hate kids."
He went down to the entrance of the shelter and saw her sitting there... He wouldn't give her a chance to react or have another smart remark, instead he simply walked up, not at all paying attention to the rain, grasped her by the scruff and carried her back inside... Not giving her any choice in the matter. He plopped her down in front of the hay pile he had been using as a nest of sorts before turning his back and going to walk away into a corner. "Dry off and get some rest... It looks like you need it." at that he flopped down onto his side lazily, keeping his back in her direction.

Rain pelted Kai as she sat, huddled up just outside the warm shelter. Her ears flicked back and forth, trying to rid themselves of the falling water. A cold breeze whipped across her soaked frame, sending shivers down her spine. Her instinct told her to get inside and dry, but something held her back, fear. The dog in there could very well be just like the akita that killed Rei; seemingly nice, until you turn your back. She shuttered, not from the cold, but from the haunting memory. No matter what, I will not share a shelter with him!
At the sound of pawsteps, Kai turned her head to see Ginshin step out of the building and walk toward her. "What do yo--" she was cut off as his fangs gripped her scruff. "What the hell?! Let go!" she snarled, digging her claws into the soggy ground. "Let go!" She managed to hold back for a few moments, but then she was pulled by his heavier weight. "Bastard, I said let go!" Kai snarled, her claws scrapping against the shelter's floor as he dragged her inside.
She hit the floor with a light 'thud' when he finally dropped her in front of the hay. Quickly she sprang up and faced Ginshin, "What'd you do that for?!" Her green eyes were filled with rage as she watched him walk to a corner and lay down with his back to her. "I don't take orders from you, I don't even know you!" Kai barked, lashing her tail. "And I'm not a pup! I can take care of myself." She watching him for a few moments longer, then walked back toward the entrance, Like hell I'm staying in here.

Ginshin growled some, seeing as how hardheaded this young dog seemed... Even though she probably had a good reason for it, it didn't make it any less frustrating. Not even bothering to roll over he rubbed his head against the floor for a moment before he spoke. "Ginshin... My name's Ginshin." He said with a sigh before he flipped his tail a bit behind him as he heard her make her way back towards the entrance. "Why freeze out there when there's clearly a good bed here." He lifted his head in her direction and scowled a bit, his pointed ears flattening back some. "I just want to sleep, I'm not going to do anything." He grumbled some before he rolled over onto his belly and pushed himself up to a sitting position. His tone wasn't exactly the most friendly, but what he spoke was true. He'd much rather not watch a young pup get sick out there in the rain, but it was her choice. "But I can't control you. Do what you want." he scowled a bit before he got up, moved in a circle, before flopping back down yet again. In some ways he hoped she would stay... At least he knew she'd be okay and though he'd be able to sleep better knowing she wasn't out there shivering to death. Closing his eyes he stretched, the metal loop on his collar jingling softly as he moved.

She stopped a few feet from the entrance, her ears folding back slightly as the stranger finally reviled his name. Kai stood, fixed in place as Ginshin spoke, unsure she could believe his words. Small puddles developed around her as water dripped off of her fur and onto the floor. I-I just can't, out of the corner of her eye she watched the male as he rose to a sitting position. But, Rei wouldn't like it if I just freeze to death... With a long sigh, Kai turned around and walked to the back of the shelter. As she passed Ginshin, she muttered, "I still don't trust you."
Kai avoided the hay and curled up in the farthest corner, facing the older dog. Slowly she looked him over, noticing for the first time his collar, "Teh, figures your some pet dog." Taking her green gaze off of him, she looked down at her numb paws and began to lick them slowly. After a few moments of licking each paw, the warmth began to return to them. "Much better," she mumbled to herself, then looked up at Ginshin. "So, what's a pet dog doing all the way out here?"

Ginshin was relieved when she returned, and he heaved a small sigh before he let his eyes close, his ears twitching as she spoke. "I'm not asking you to trust me... Just not to go and freeze out there in the cold." He said before he slid his jaw across the floor so he could face her some, taking the opportunity to take a look at her, seeing her markings and such. However, at her mentioning the bit about his collar, his maw wrinkled up some in detest of the word pet. Sure he had been a 'pet' once, but he didn't even think of his relationship with his master as that.... After that it was all hell... And humans were the bringers of that.
"I'm not a pet. This collar... Is just something that reminds me about my past." he said before huffing a breath. "To be honest... I hate humans more then anything." He said with a low growl under his voice, his green eyes somewhat distant as he thought of what the humans had previously put him through. However, he did his best to change the subject some. "What about you? I mean, a pup such as yourself shouldn't be out here by herself..." He said, his ears lifting a little in her direction.

"Heh," Kai smirked, rolling her eyes. "Whatever you say, but in the end you were still a pet." She was curious of Ginshin's past, but she wasn't one that really wanted to dig up such things; so with a flick of her ear the thoughts faded. Talking of others past would end up bringing up her own, and Kai didn't want to think of it... Ever.
She was so worried of thinking about her past that she missed his question and was then startled by the silence. "Huh? Oh you asked a question..." She looked down at her paws, trying to remember what he said. There was something with a... pup... Huh! She stood up the fur along her spine raised, "I'm not a pup, I'm just small! I've been around for four seasons." She glared at Ginshin for awhile before sitting down, her fur still bristling, "Geez, call me a pup, I should claw his eyes out..." Kai sat there and grumbled to herself for some time, clawing at the rotting floor boards.
"What I'd give to be in a tree right now," she growled as her claws scored deep marks into the floor. "The ground's no place for a ninja..." with a long sigh she withdrew her black claws from the wood and looked out the entrance. The rain was still pouring down as lightning lit up the depressing landscape. With another sigh she looked over to Ginshin, I'm going to be stuck here for some time... Just great...

Ginshin grumbled a little about the pet remark, but she was true, he really couldn't beat that fact. Though at her remark about being a pup, he couldn't help but laugh. He sat up a bit and shook his head a little, his ears poising to a relaxed position. "Oh well sorry. Didn't mean to offend." he said, trying to hold back the rest of his laughter. It was amusing how riled up she got just from being called a pup, though he knew it wasn't the best thing to do to make friends with her. At her glare he chuckled once again... "If looks could kill... I'd be pushing daises right now." He said, grinning some. She was one interesting little canine.
He watched as she continued to grumble and scrape at the floorboards but he only sighed and relaxed where he was. At the lightning his fur bristled some, not being one to typically enjoy the storms, but he quickly calmed back down. He felt eyes on him, and he glanced over to see her looking back towards him. He knew what she was thinking... "Can't control the weather dearie." he said before lifting his paw focused on cleaning out any debris between his pads. "But hey, some shelter is better then nothing. And there's bound to be some sort of meal in here... Though the humans abandoned it, I doubt the local infestation of rodents would just up and leave."

[I'll so sorry I didn't reply sooner]
"Mice aren't worth hunting," Kai growled, focusing her attention back at clawing the floor boards. "Rei says that it takes up to much energy just to catch one of 'em. Your better off just going hungry." Mentioning Rei brought a look of pain into her green gaze, scraping harder at the wood, she tried to push back the memories. It wasn't working, Damn...Damn..."Damn it!" Standing up abruptly she began to pace, completely ignoring Ginshin's presence. After a few minutes she returned to her corner and sat back down, her eyes narrowed.
Then without warning, Kai lashed out at the wall "Damn it all!" Small splinters rained harmlessly down upon her white pelt as she stood panting. Four deep scars were left in the wall where her claws had hit. She sat with her back facing Ginshin and stared down at her paws, "You should of just left me out in the rain."

Shenkka shivered. The rain was pouring down, and she was laying in some scratchy bushes. It wasn't the best bed out there, but she preferred it over the farm. Shenkka disliked buildings, and she never wanted to go inside one, let alone sleep. She shivered again. Shenkka started to consider going inside. Nah, The Shikokou Ken thought. The rain will let up soon enough....I think.

Mud was traveling throught the land at a fairly fast trotting speed. His lungs inhaled and exhaled at a regular pace as puffs of white steam from his breath clouded into lumpy shapes before dissapating. The heavy rain wet his brown fur, his paws made a regular rythem that kept him going.
The sound was his motivation to keep going, a repeating tap-tap tap-tap.
Where am I going? Mud stopped momentarily, and gazed around the soaking wet trees and filoage of the forest. He slowly moved into a sit. He sat brooding as the rain drops continued to pelt his wet fur.
Your pathetic, running away from your own shadow like a scared little pup, and now you've stopped moving because you refuse to take another step before you know where you're going, Ire said coldly.
Mud licked his jaws. Thinking was never his strong point.
Idoit! Ire shouted in Mud's head before quieting.
Mud noticed the side of an old barn in between the gaps of just a few of the neverending forest of trees.
Hey, a barn... he thought for a few seconds. Maybe I will sleep there for tonight. Cautiously he began to walk toward the front entrance.
If Mud would have tooken a moment to smell the air or to use his ears through the perpetual sound of rain drops to take in his surroundings, he would have knoticed the hidden dog outside. Or even the two dogs speaking to eachother inside.
A loud thunder clap startled Mud and he rushed inside. He saw a scowling female in the corner and a resting male in the middle of a conversation. "Oh my..." Mud whispered quietly, and said "I am terribly sorry!" He bowed his head to apologize more, "I will leave at once." Mud turned on his haunches to leave.
Ah Ah! Wait, check out that female... She seems nice, lets ask her name. Ire spoke inside of the pathos of Mud's mind, Besides that mate of hers can be easily delt with, a quick nip to the jugular is all it takes. Then again, that wouldn't be very fun at all...
No! Mud called back to himself in his mind, We are leaving, I don't want to hurt them.
