Just needed a place to put all this down while it's fresh in my mind. My Word 2000 isn't working at the moment. ><
- Volume 1 -
Main Characters: Sharp, Scout 1, Corgi pup
Secondary Characters: Kira, Kahn, Unnamed doberman, Scout 2, Scout 3, Scout 4, Subordinate
Breakdown: Sharp is wondering about on a cliff face of some sort, over-looking a large expanse of wilderness. The wind is blowing up from the valley and the time of day is either late evening or very early morning, everything golden and sun-kissed with the great ball of fire itself sitting right on the horizon. I've decided that she is sleeping, sleeping beneath a peaceful tree on the edge of a forest. First few pages show her awakening slowly, stretching a bit and yawning, before offering the sun one last nostalgic look before she makes her way down the back of the cliff/hill, into the woods in the interest of locating some food.
Cue title page- Sharp walking through the forest, shadows from the trees playing across her as she looks around.
Next, she wanders about the forest, sniffing, preferably over the course of at least one whole page to show how much searching she is actually doing. Eventually, she comes to a bush and peers through it, locating a doe and her fawn. Carefully, she creeps around in the safety of the bushes, describing in her mind, to the viewers, how much care it takes to scare a doe just right in order to safely apprehend her fawn. She scratches a tree with her forepaws, gets the doe's attention. But the deer sees nothing in the trees at first... Then the snap of a twig behind her and some rustling. She turns to see what it is and notices the shadow of a dog in the trees.
The doe panics and bolts, leaving her fawn. The fawn struggles to get to its feet to follow but appears to be too slow. However, there is a suddenly bleating noise and Sharp's once cocky grin fades to confusion. The doe returns, just in time for the fawn to reach its feet and follow its mother out of the clearing, right over Sharp's head. She ducks and curses, mentioning that the prey items are too fast for her to chase. Angry, she turns back to the clearing, just in time to notice the corgi puppy that had ruined her hunt, panting and obviously exhausted. She examines him(or her) for a moment or two but it suddenly distracted once again by the bleating of the deer. The corgi is also surprised and runs toward her (oblivious to her presence) with the intent to investigate. Sharp has to step aside to let the corgi through but otherwise stays perfectly concealed.
It is then revealed that both the deer and the fawn had been downed by a small pack of dogs, maybe three or four of them, who stand holding their prizes before the corgi, who practically runs right into them. The pup looks surprised while the dogs appear amused by his/her presence. Sharp is also surprised, astonished that such a small group of dogs could down such large prey so easily, and watches from a far, still peering through bushes for safety. She, for the sake of the viewer, examines each of the dogs, pointing out that one is as Afghan hound while another is a similar sort of sighthound (a Chart Polski), which probably explains why they could match the deer's speed.
The dogs taunt the corgi a little, their leader thanking him/her for his/her help in the hunt (sarcastically/evilly, of course) before telling him/her to run along and play. The corgi is frozen in fear and only stares wide-eyed. The dog's leader appears confused and asks angrily if the corgi heard him. When there is no response, he grows angrily and pins the corgi down, stating that he/she is trespassing on Kira's private hunting grounds. Sharp appears confused, she has no idea who this "Kira" is. The dogs continue to threaten the corgi, stating that he/she better get moving before their generosity run out and they decide to turn to cannibalism for their breakfast. As one final threat, the lead dog snaps at the corgi, stopping only inches from his/her face, ending with a loud "get going". The puppy bolts.
In his/her haste, he/she runs right into Sharp's leg. Though Sharp is not angered, the puppy is frightened and screams loudly in fear. The dogs are alerted and look up to see Sharp standing at the edge of the clearing now, the puppy behind her. The dog pack demands to know who she is, but she just says "I'm here to get my breakfast back." The dogs look confused but then laugh aloud, the leader stating how hilarious it was that a female thought she could take on males. He steps forward, going on about how his high rank in Kira's elite army meant that he was no one to play around with, he then tells her to take the little one and beat it before things get physical. Sharp simply replies: "it's too late for that".
Close of the leader's wide eye, then zoom out to see that Sharp already has him by the neck. Everyone appears shocked, the leader wonders how such a large dog could move so quickly while Sharp explains that things got physical when he threatened the innocent, that that's an unforgiveable crime. She then rears up onto her hind legs and slams the lead dog head first into the ground. His head gets stuck in the soft soil and she watches him struggle, grinning and stating that she is the local police.
The dog pack leader, manages to get his head out and, coughing, he turns, commanding his followers to get her. The remaining dogs all charge Sharp at once and the corgi puppy screams "Look out". But Sharp just grins and fights them all off with ease, sending them all flying all at once. When they land, they struggle to their feet, one remarking on how this dog sounds like a female but fights like a male. They charge her again, Sharp grabs one by the hind leg and swings him around in a circle, hitting all of the other dogs in the process. Suddenly, the leader says "Hold it" and Sharp turns. He has the corgi puppy in his jaws and commands her to submit to him, to allow him to take her to Kira as a prisoner, or the corgi will die. Sharp appears conflicted, the corgi appears frightened, but, with a sigh, she seems to agree, dropping her attack stance and standing upright normally.
The dog, pleased, grins and commands the others to restrain her. When it turns out that they are all out cold (or possibly dead), he sighs and says that he'll do it himself. Angrily he throws the corgi down and lunges for Sharp. Sharp appears unmoved until the last second, at which point she opens her eyes and suddenly leaps up, grabbing the lead down by the throat. Without a second's thought, she flips him over and appears to be slamming him into the ground. However, it is quickly revealed that he has, instead, been impaled on a tree branch. Dying slowly, he mutters something about Sharp's sheath (having seen it during the attack due to their positioning). Sharp just grins and mentioned being "less of a female than others may think".
The bad dogs now dead, Sharp turns to the deer carcasses. Behind her, the corgi just stares, wide-eyed. Suddenly, he/she exclaims how cool Sharp had been and runs up to her, going on about how fast she was, how strong she must've been and how easily she beat those opponents. However, Sharp interrupts him/her with a harsh "Zip it, whelp!". The corgi appears confused for a moment before the fawn carcass is dropped in front of him/her. Sharp tells him/her to take it and scram, before explaining that she is no child-loving hero out to make the world a better place, that she is no different from those dogs and that the pup needed to get the hell out of there before she too changed her mind about allowing him/her to live. The puppy seems hurt and frightened at the same time, but without hesitation, he/she grabs the fawn and runs off, leaving Sharp to finish her meal.
Somewhere out in the trees, another dogs watches with suspicion. It turns out that this dog is a subordinate of the infamous Kira and runs back to the pack/army to inform him of the death of the "hunters/scouts". Kira appears only in shadow, along with his two highest generals: a doberman and a sheepdog of some sort. Though the subordinate is nervous about telling Kira, Kira only seems amused, stating that those had been his best scouts, hand-picked even, that had been bested by a mere female. He looks toward the doberman and asks him to arrange an expedition to go and find this "more-than female". He simply has to meet her...
End of volume 1.
