The 'Consent' Rule
- Consent, for those of us who don't know, applies to fights and powerplaying. It basically decrees at what point an action is considered powerplaying and at what point it isn't.
- Here on Ginga Denkiteki Omaesan, we operate under Limited Consent. Meaning, all outcomes of a fight, battle or any other sort of action (such as a bite, single attack or whatever) are to be decided based on common sense. Obviously, if your akita puppy is fighting a great dane, and the great dane has the puppy pinned and leans down to strike it, the puppy will not just magically 'disappear' and reappear unharmed. Likewise, the puppy should probably be unable to suddenly grab the dane and throw him into a nearby tree. We're using common sense. If the puppy is pinned, he will likely be bitten. However, under limited consent, you are allowed to 'out' of an injury or other sort of event that may result in your character's death. So, injuries, actions, battles and other such events should be governed primarily through logic and reasonable assumptions, based on a character's size, physical capabilities, mental capabilities, experiences, knowledge, and situational circumstances. However, the death of a character is ultimately controlled by the player.
- Put simply, you cannot control another player's character. You can, however, speak up or even alert a staff member whenever another player makes a silly decision to safeguard their character, which is against the rules but allowed to avoid character death.
Further Fighting & Powerplaying Rules
1. Just to reiterate, you cannot control another player's character. This is called Power playing and is a punishable offense.
2. All actions, attacks or otherwise, should be open ended, so whether or not the action is successful is determined by the other player. IE- "John leapt up, jaws gaping for the bear's throat", as opposed to the incorrect statement "John bit the bear in the throat". Likewise, "She pet the dog, laughing as he wagged his tail and panted happily" should be "She pet the dog, waiting to see how he would react." Remember, powerplaying doesn't only happen in fights.
3. Character death is also controlled by the character's player and no one else. You cannot decide to kill someone else's character. This is called... Auto-Killing, I think. I dunno.
4. However, despite all of the power given to the character's player, they cannot abuse it. All actions should be conducted logically and characters should not be 'over glorified' in any way. So no superhero powers or dodging every single assault or having a 45 lb dog throw a 200 lb dog or anything obviously ridiculous like that. Your character is not invincible and should not be played that way. This is called God-modding.
5. Just as a general rule of thumb, you can only dodge three times in a row. Again, this forum is based on logical deductions so, if your character is already pinned, they should probably get hit/bitten repeatedly until they get away from their attacker, especially if their attacker is larger than them and holding them down securely. But, if just generally fighting and lunging at one another, attacks can only be completely missed three times in a row. The fourth consecutive attack will always be a hit.
6. Since we are under limited consent, I do not think we will need fights to be judged. Many fights are part of plots or are merely conducted for the fun of the players and are rarely serious. So they will not be judged and winners should be decided among the players involved, based, again, on logical deductions based on character size and strength.
7. Fights over territory or over pack rank/leadership, however, are serious business and will be monitored by a staff member. After a certain number of posts, the staff member will declare a winner based on character size, experience, demeanor, physical prowess/strength, situational circumstances, and based on the occurrences within the fight itself. Player performance (ie- post length, spelling and grammar, etc) will not have a major impact on fight decisions and will only come into play if the characters are evenly matched.
8. In the case of a severely even fight, winner will be chosen via coin toss.
9. Fights may occur over mates/females, territorial control (in the case of a massive war between packs) or over rank within a pack. Females may fight with males to protect offspring or their mate, or to just simply show the boys that she will not be pushed around. Fights happen all the time in real life so we don't limit the reasons why they might crop up.
Regarding the Creation and Management of Packs
1. Packs may be started by anyone anytime, just like in real life.
2. Also like in real life, the males are always on the higher end of things. Females are viewed at a severely lowly level in the Ginga universe, when compared to the way humans view genders. So, they are usually treated more like property than like equals, unless they can fight, of course. Which, from an OOC standpoint, they are more than welcome to do.
3. Though packs can be started by anyone, they will not be officially allowed to get/claim their territory until they have at least six -active- members.
4. To start a pack, you must first begin a recruitment topic in the pack creation board. Before approval, you must have at least three active users, with six approved characters to join the pack. To find these members/users, you may set up a recruitment thread.
5. Once you have at least three interested users/six approved characters, you can submit an application in the pack creation forum.
6. All packs function under the same hierarchal system. The alpha pair are on top, followed by the beta pair (the alphas advisers), the Gamma members and the Delta members. Members below Beta do not have to be mates. Gamma members are typically considered the highest generals, while Delta members are usually platoon leaders (lesser generals). And then everyone else in the pack gets generic ranks. Some packs have scouts, hunters and other task based ranks, but they are not required.
7. Ranks are not like candy. Meaning, you can't just take one because you are there first. The alphas (or betas, if the alphas give them the power to do so) are the ones to give out ranks. You cannot simply claim them.
8. All other rules regarding a pack's behavior are governed by the alpha of said pack.
Regarding Mating, Breeding and Forcebreeding
1. First and foremost, there is no breeding/mating season here. Since all sorts of animals are allowed, it'd be tough to coordinate them all so, you're allowed to breed whenever you'd like to keep things simple.
2. Two characters do not have to be mates in order to breed. Dogs go into heat, meaning they are receptive to any male willing to give, be that male a mate or stranger. However, since the characters here are slightly anthropomorphic in their behavior, it is unlikely that a female will willingly let a stranger breed with her.
3. In the case of a female being unwillingly mounted, it is called 'force breeding' or rape, and is allowed with the female's player's consent. Naturally, said females are allowed to fight back.
4. When role-playing mating, detail should be kept to a minimum. Graphic mating is allowed, if that is what you are into, but, since this is not a porno site, I don't expect to see you doing nothing but raping every female on the whole site and going into excessive detail with it.
5. All threads involving any sort of graphic mating should be marked with an [M] for mature, an for adult, or a [G] for graphic. One of the listed letters should appear in the title of the thread, along with some sort of suitable warning at the beginning of the post in which the mating is occurring, just in case the title is too long for the warning to be seen.
6. After a successful mating, the player of the female must wait at least one real life week before the puppies can be born. Two weeks is the recommended waiting period, but in the case of a plot of some sort, the time may be shortened to one week if you need it to be.
7. The puppies must be designed and put up for adoption before they are born. The players of the parents are allowed to play as many puppies as they like and can even determine the number of puppies in the litter. But, if all the puppies cannot be adopted out to other players, then the remaining unplayed puppies will simply be still born.
8. Birth, like mating, must be rped out. The players of the puppies do not have to be involved but the event should be rped out anyway, just so it appears on record here on the forum. And no, you do not have to go into detail. You can but you don't have to.
9. Puppies and offspring do not need to have a bio until they are a year old. Though the exact aging process can vary as much as the player wishes, puppies must remain puppies for at least two real life weeks before being dubbed one year old, though a month is the recommended waiting period.
10. Speaking of waiting periods, two dogs cannot be declared mates until they have known each other for at least one to two in character days. So none of this 'Hi! Want to be my mate?' garbage. It takes time to fall in love and, though dogs don't really pay attention to love in real life, they do on this forum.
General Posting Regulations
((I know it's a lot to read. Last section, so just bare with me. ^^)
1. Post minimum in character is 50 words. Posting more is better, but 50 is enough.
2. Try to use proper grammar and spelling. There is a spell check for a reason so let's try to use it, yes?
3. No chat speak or wolf speak in character, if you would. Just write the way you'd normally write. Try to avoid using super humongous words just to make yourself look smart. You'll only look like a jerk, confusing everybody.
4. No thread hijacking either. When posting in a thread with multiple people, be sure to stick to a posting order at all times (even during a fight) and never skip another player's turn unless they allow you to or they have an excused absence. Only after you have been waiting for over three days are you allowed skip that player and resume the posting cycle, until it becomes their turn again, at which point you must wait three days again before these steps repeat.
5. You may use liquid time. Meaning you may rp in more than one thread at a time with the same character. This way, you don't have to create a hundred characters just to keep yourself busy.
6. Always enjoy yourself. Rping is a past time, a hobby we're all supposed to enjoy. So relax and have fun. If something in character is annoying you, you're probably taking things to seriously. ;3
Last Point
Ginga Denkiteki Omaesan is a Play-by-post online text-based role-playing game. Meaning, each thread serves as an event along a timeline. Veterans to forum role-playing may be wondering why I'm pointing this out but a lot of anime forums are MUCK's or other similar sorts of role-plays where each thread is almost like a separate story written about two or more characters by their players. That is not the case here. You cannot simply ignore previous in character events on this forum. When stuff happens, you have to stick it through, just like real life. There is no rewind, no undo and no backspace.
[/rules]
Finally. X3 Sorry. I tend to explain stuff right there in the rules so they're kind of long. But I STRONGLY recommend that you read them and not just skim them. A lot of the stuff in here is fairly important.
