((OoC:: sorry if this is confusing!! ><; But well, I'm RPing a dog with a severe split personality... so I thought I should try to make distinctions to not make things confusing, although I'm afraid that I just might make things unclear in the process... Mud thought, "Mud speech" : Ire thougt, "Ire speech"))
Mud let loose his sorrow in a long low note. It was the sound of saddness. A primal call that was a far cry from the ancestry of the former wolves that all dogs were bred from, before they became the companion of humankind.
He was sitting on the ledge of a out crop of rock in a mountain overlooking a beautiful valley. The bright moonlight of the full moon illuminated the rows and rows of seemingly endless flowers a mysterious array of shadows and dimmed-bright colors. He lisetend to the resounding echo of his own howl in the valley. Is anyone out there? I... I feel so alone... Mud lowered his head to the ground, his usually erect ears now lowered close to his head.
I'm still here, I'm always here Ire was the abominable thing that plauged every thought and every moment of Mud's existance. It all started after...after her death Mud thought to himself. Yes Yes, how could we forget that night... ah, the memories!
NO! Mud thought adamantly I am not a bad dog, I am good... You! you were the one that murdured that other dog, not me! What ever helps you sleep at night Ire whispered menacingly But the truth of the matter is that WE were the ones that ripped that fool to shreds, and boy did we enjoy it! Besides, I was the one who executed the act, but you were the one lusitng for blood, as much as you hate to admit it...
Mud felt a few tears streak down his muzzle slowly, Why? "Why...can't you just leave me alone!?" "Isn't that what your afraid of? Being alone, when your precious one died, you had no one left, and you ran away... Poor little Muddy... I am the one protecting you Mud. You are the big dumb oaf of a dog that loves everyone and is as smart as a brick. You need me, and so I am here..." "Aiko...Aiko...Aiko... Forgive me, please..."
Mud colapsed on the ground, in a heap of lamentation. High above the broken spirit of a desolate hound the clouds were becoming heavy with rain....

Echo approached a wide river that ran through the large valley she wandered in. Border Collie/Husky mix contemplated crossing it and caught a slight glimpse of her reflection and looked away quickly. She couldn't stand to seeing the side of her face that reminded her of her father with the blue eye and erect ear. Somehow her mind wandered to the day she saw her half brother Tyr toss her best friend off the side of a cliff, her heart ached at the memory. Suddenly a mournful howl pierced the quiet of the night and Echo froze in her track. 'They sound so sad, just like me I guess,' she thought glumly to herself. She couldn't help herself, she sat on her haunches and released her own cry of dispair. 'I'm so sorry Aspen, I'm sorry.'

Amaya walked carefully. Paws stepped quietly on the ground. Ears tuned to her surroundings, suddenly something pierced the night. She stopped, looking around. She sniffed the air, as it passed through her nostrils, she smelled a dog. She began to run, not paying attention to anything but the scent.
"Hm, I wonder what that is. It sounds so sad." She then stopped, but not without tripping over something. It was furry, and it's scent was strong. It was the dog. "Oof!", she said as she fell. She laid there, feeling dizzy and confused. 'What in the world. I hope I don't get attacked,or worse.', she thought. As she continued feeling confused.

Firedrake wandered around the area. It's scenic enough; that's for sure, He thought. Firedrake spied a dog sitting next to a river. "H-" His greeting was interrupted when a mournful howling suddenly broke out. Firedrake nearly raced up the tree, he was so startled. Wonder what's up with that guy, Firedrake thought. Or girl. Either one. Then the dog who was near him started to howl. Firedrake shivered. He wasn't the kind of wolf mix that wouldn't mind a howl or two. Well, saddening howling, anyway. "What are you so sad about?" He asked. Firedrake wasn't noisy; he just didn't know what was the right thing to say.

((OoC:: OMG! PEOPLES!!! ;D YAY! SO HAPPY!! lol, no worries Echo, glad to have you here!! :3))
Mud heard another dogs cry of sadness. He breath was slow and even, air disrupting the dirt in clouds of dust. More...dogs? They...feel sad too? Why? Mud thought dimly. Why do we suffer?
A dog suddenly tripped over him. He heard her 'Oof!' as she flew over him a short distance and fell. Mud slowly turned his muzzle to her, "Are you....OK?" he questioned, he didn't even feel the impact himself. Ire screamed in his mind, BITCH! I WILL RIP HER HEART OUT FOR THAT! as Mud groaned suddenly.
No...please don't not now..not again....don't come out! PLEASE!! I'm begging you... Mud thought to Ire as he tried to close his bright orange eye as it burned.
A bright flash of light, and a thunder clap a second later announced a downpour of rain. It washed the dirt into mud, it soaked the flowers in a watery embrace, it soaked into Mud's dark brown fur....

If anyone can help me figure out how to make my signature a picture and not a web address that'd be cool. ____________________________________________________
Echo ceased her call and continued to stare into the night sky. There were heavy clouds forming, but the twinkling stars made her brown Border Collie eye and blue Husky eye sparkle and the wind caught her ears making them twitch. The trance was broken when she heard a quiet voice somewhere behind her. "What are you sad about?" Quickly she spun around, paying no mind to the twinge of pain in her leg, the scars on her shoulder and chest bore as marks from a past injury. When she looked around, she saw a small, orange-furred wolf-like male. He didn't look very old, at least not her age, and didn't appear too threatening to her, but still because of her untrusting nature she only lowered her hackles slightly. She shifted uncomfortably, making the gold chest ring on her leather sledding harness jingle. Cocking her head curiously to the side she asked, "Who are you?" Thunder clapped loudly, the flashes of lightening lit the darkness, and it started to downpour drenching her long, yet sleek, black and white coat against her body. 'Great, I hate getting wet.' she thought to herself as she looked into the red gaze of the stranger.

Amaya would manage to get up, shaking her head and blinking as she managed to see the dark brown male. "Oh, clumsy me. I heard howls of sadness, so I went to see what was wrong, then as I ran,I didn't pay attention, so I,well of course, bumped into you. But overall, I'm fine, thanks for asking." She gave a warm gentle smile as she heard the thunder and saw lightening. 'Wow, that's great, now it'sraining. Well I hope the rivers, lakes, and ponds don't flood.'
Suddenly, shyness took over. "Ummm...who are..um..you. My name is Amaya, meaning Night Rain." She then smiled some more, and forgot about the rain, as it poured on her black pelt. She sat down and went abit closer to him. Shy could be shy,and flirty too. Well, sort of, mostly shy. 'This male doesn't look to old, he almost looks my age. Though that's what I think.', she thought. Wagging her tail in a nervous manner.

"I'm Firedrake, thanks for asking." Firedrake said. It wasn't exactly the kind of greeting he had thought he would get, but he didn't take any notice of it. You'd almost think she'd rip my throat out at any moment. He thought to himself, slightly amused. The rainy weather didn't seem to want to give up, but Firedrake didn't mind.

'Firedrake, huh, I guess that fits,' she thought giving the flame-colored hybrid another once over. She decided he acted too polite for someone dangerous and lowered her hackles the rest of the way and sat on her haunches. 'What would Aspen do?' "Echo. Sorry, I'm just....cautious when I meet strangers. Especially when they sneak up behind me." She flicked her tail and continued to study Firedrake. Meanwhile, another round of thunder and lightening filled the sky. It didn't seem to bother him, but she was starting to get tired of raindrops falling into her ear canal. After attempting to shake it out, she said, "Let's get outta the storm for a while. There's a cave over the hill there." She lifted her right paw to point in the direction of the cave, wincing slightly for putting weight on her weak leg too long.

Mud flinched, this female was quite forward. His light blue and burning orange eyes took in her dark black pelt and wandered to her pretty brown eyes. He looked away, as she said her name, "'Night rain' you say?" Mud choked back Ire's growl, it was forming in his throat and managed to cough in a deep throaty noise. The urge to no longer be alone was overwhelming, it motivated Mud to risk his mental stability over this new comer.
He shakily rose to his four black paw pads, water slid through his fur and soaked his skin, Mud barely even registered the feeling. "Well, miss Amaya," Mud spoke as gently as he could, "W-why don't we take you to some cover?" He bite his tongue when the 'we' slipped out.
Can't get me out of your mind? My my, don't I feel flatered... Ire spoke with mock innocence.
The water continued to pour down, the constant pitter-patter and increasing cold was all lost to Mud. He was losing control, losing stability. His orange eye was bothering him more and more. Please, Please... He begged silently, let me hold on a little longer, I don't want to be alone. Mud glanced over to the female, hoping she wouldn't notice his lament I am sorry, I just want to spend time with another, I'm just so... alone... I swear, I won't hurt you...
But I wouldn't mind nibbling on her. Ire's voice echoed throughout the pathos of his skull.
Mud moved his head toward a cave he had passed on his way up the valley. He remembered it only because he could have sworn his clear blue eye saw another dog in there. When he took a double take, there was nothing even resembling a dog there.
He stood in the direction of the cave, not wanting to say anymore. The rain drops continued their perpetual downpour, as Mud awaited Amaya's response...

Amaya would blink some as rain poured on her muzzle. She nodded and stated, "Why yes, certainly. My fur is getting quite wet, and I feel to be getting abit cold. She said with a warm smile. She looked at him as rain poured. She rose up, rain drops falling off her pelt and onto the ground. She wagged her tail and went next to him.
She awaited for him to lead her to a cave. The sound of rain hitting the water, making a splashing sound didn't really annoy her. She licked her muzzled some before looking around and looking back to him. He seemed quite big now that she was next to him. "So, where is this cave." She looked around abit more, taking a couple of steps forward to where his body was pointing. Until she was about maybe a foot or two infront of him.

"Thank you." said Firedrake, replying to her comment about his name. "I guess that's a good thing to be a little nervous, if someone were to attack you. And, who's that up there?" He commented and asked. The apparently brown-colored dog was bothering Firedrake a little. The dog seemed dangerous. ((OOC: sorry for the short post, I'm in a hurry))

(OOC - not a problem:) Echo looked to where Firedrake was looking and saw the brown colored dog and another dog as well. Something didn't smell right to her and she wasn't sure why. He looked healthy, he wasn't posturing in any threatening way, he just looked a little unsettled. Still, she couldn't shake her feeling about him, and when she got feelings like that, they were usually right. "I don't know, but I'm going to find out." She broke out in a run, not waiting to see if Firedrake would follow, and headed in the direction of the cave where she saw the two strange dogs disappear.

Mud did not see the multi colored collie mix run toward him, nor did he really notice the other dog looking straight at him- and he's a blazing orange against a dark dim background.
The falling rain caused any scent to become lost in the water, and it was getting more difficult to see as the rain began to drop harder and harder. By then, the wind was also picking up; there was a storm coming.
Mud tried not to think about other things, not of the possibility that he was losing control to Ire. No, he focused on other things at hand, such as escorting the pretty little female dog next to him into the nearby safety of the cave.
He began to walk toward the dark empty cave ahead. One foot, two foot, three foot, four foot. Repeat. Mud kept his colored eyes on the destination ahead. It took an agonizingly long time to it to become closer. The sounds of rain, the howling wind, and that thunder clap that seemed to shake Mud to the marrow of his bone, it all was pushing down on him, crushing his skull in an invisible vice grip- slowly increasing its strength.
He blinked a few times to realize that he was already at the entrance to the cave. What had happened in the last few minuets? I can't remember... he turned his head so that his light blue eye gazed at the scenery behind him, with a curtain of rain from above.
Mud's head lowered as the prepared to enter the cave. He didn't need to, the cave was high enough to give him plenty of head space, even his long body as well. In fact, there was enough room for more than ten dogs in the cave, it was nice and deep. The floor was not wet at all, if he had been paying attention, Mud would have felt the pleasant sensation of dry on the bottom of his foot pads, instead to the sickly, slimy feel of mud.
He would have, if he wasn't so worried. Mud hadn't heard Ire's voice in the longest time. That lashing voice that never seemed to stop was oddly quiet. His eyes found the female, Is she the reason why he's not talking so much?
"Are you comfortble, miss?" Mud asked her, his back to the enrance of the cave...

Paws soak andwet lead tracks inside. Amaya then walked back inside to cave and shook her fur away from Mud. Then she went next to him. "Yep, I'm fine. Good thing you found this cave." She smiled and wagged her tail. She yawned some.
She then rolled over on her back. Pawing at him playfully. "So, why were you howling so sadly." Her eyes looked innocent, and they seemed to say, I don't mean to get into your bussiness. She cared about others. And he was nicer than any dog she ever met. She was happy that he found shelter from them.Though any scent was washed away, so she could only sense him.
